Perfect location but Not a...

Liked: Perfect location, Georgian architecture space and light everywhere , amazing Art Deco bar and lounge area .Harriet was fantastic hostess , knowledgeable receptionist, and she cater for the breakfast alone for everyone !
Disliked: Old carpets , mould in showers , squeaky staircases ! Rooms and corridors need full refurbishment! Only one staff for everything for the all day ??? Harriet was on reception, in the bar, responding for room service, and catering for breakfast all alone !!! That’s unbelievable , how this kind of thing is allowed in such a hotel is beyond comprehension!!!There should be deferred staff members for the bar , for the breakfast catering, for the room services and for the reception !!!Very poor breakfast, not even eggs , no full English, not good value for money! Disappointed ☹️

Liked: The location next to Castle was great. Having a suite was good. The ground floor renovation looks great. The breakfast room was light and airy.Good coffee.
Disliked: Noise. Windows are not double glazed and late night drinkers at the pub across from hotel, a brewery delivery to the pub at 5 AM, and what sounded like a bin lorry at 6AM all prevented a good nights sleep..The room was clean and comfortable but very tired. Renovation is taking place, and once done, I am sure it will be great. Continental breakfast was OK, but there were lots of packets of convenience foods and the quality was quite basic. Lack of staff. There was 1 poor member of staff who had to do multiple jobs. She was unable to attend to reception if she was needed in the bar. Several people were waiting to check in when we did, and we had to go looking for her. At breakfast, she was run ragged, replenishing food and clearing tables, and of course, wasn't there on reception at checking out time, as she was busy elsewhere. More staff are needed!

Lovely building, great service

Liked: Lovely room, beautiful old building, and absolutely outstanding service from the charming young woman who seemed to be more or less running the place on her own - we are always grateful when hotel staff are ready to be helpful with bicycle storage, makes all the difference to us.
Disliked: Nothing, all fine

Liked: The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good.Also the location was near to the castle and cathedral. bars and restaurants were in abundance.Overall a good stay and would consider booking again.
Disliked: Little not to like but the colours of the entrance hall were a little oppressive for a small area.

Superb

Liked: Fantastic location for visiting the Castle and Cathedral, with easy walking into town. Parking was good and plentiful with excellent Tapas and Cafe next to the Hotel.. The staff were all friendly and helpful throughout our stay.The hotel is a little dated but is undergoing decoration and completed rooms look great. The rooms are a good size, the jnr suite was great but still to be painted.BreKfast was basic and we did have an issue which was quickly dealt with by staff.We would recommend this hotel.
