Lovely old B&B in a...
Liked: Stefan was an exceptional host who welcomed us warmly. to this charming home which was perfect to accommodate all nine of us who met up there. Parking was provided and lots of restaurant options were available within an easy walk so we could just leave our cars there.
Disliked: If stairs are a problem for you, make sure to say so as most rooms are up one flight, ours was up two. This wasn't a problem for us, but it might be for some.

More like staying at a...
Liked: The location of The Charlevoix House was good with a very short walk to downtown, to the Pine River walks out to Lake Michigan and to local restaurants and shops. While located on a VERY busy highway (Rt. 31), the neighborhood behind the house is quiet and pleasant for walking. Our first night's room The Golf Room) fronted Rt. 31 but the road noise was bothersome than were the voices coming from the room above us and beside us. Thin walls, I guess. Our room was comfortable but only had a single table lamp as a light source. The king-size bed was comfortable. The bathroom was tiny, and a plus-sized person wouldn't do well in it. The plumbing worked adequately. The room above us had a shower leak in the morning that leaked into our room, and we were given The Guest Cottage for our second night. This room had more lighting and a much larger bathroom and shower. There was a small side room with a cottage bed in it and the room would have, comfortably, fit 3 guests. The king size bed was very comfortable. A "Continental Breakfast" was included. There was an egg frittata and biscuits with sausage gravy on our first morning and egg & crumbled sausage "sliders" the second morning. Also, cereals, some fruit, English muffins, etc. There was a microwave and a toaster oven for guest use. The innkeeper, LIz, was VERY friendly and helpful. The guest lounge area had a couple of tables with hard wooden chairs and then a sofa & chairs in front of a fireplace. Overall, it more like staying at a friend's house than a B&B but we would, definitely stay here again.
Disliked: Tiny Dixie cups in room instead of a decent sized glass. No coffee maker in the room and no Keurig in the breakfast area. Instant coffee could made using the microwave to heat water and brewed coffee was available by, about, 7am or so. Very limited lighting for reading and few electric outlets in the rooms and common areas. Other than that, this was a perfectly adequate inn and we enjoyed our two-night stay.
