Fantastic location run by some...
Liked: What a brilliant location and what a wonderful set of owners who are looking to do something different in the area.I very much enjoyed our stay and will be looking to revisit once they have finalised all of their new menu.
Disliked: Needs better wifi

Charles Cotton Hotel
Liked: Excellent location. Free onsite parking.
Disliked: Hotel is tired and needs renovating. New owners took over 2 weeks previously so work is in progress around the hotel. Room was quite small but functional, bed was a 4' 6" double and quite comfortable. Wi-Fi did not work during our stay and no TV remote in the room so had to get out of bed to adjust the TV. Mould present around the bath. Road noisy especially at the weekend so earplugs are advised.

A new start.
Liked: The staff were lovely and under the circumstances, having just taken ownership doing their best. We understand the previous owners had let things get rather run down and photos on this website are not a true reflection. The hotel, under new ownershi, really has the potential to flourish but care needs to be taken for them to upgrade what they have inherited and give it 110%. The staff themselves were very welcoming and we wish them all success for the future.
Disliked: The misreprepresentation by booking dot com, out of date pictures which is all we have to go by.

it was awful.
Liked: did not have breakfast and to be honest after a report from another couple we were glad we didn't.
Disliked: the whole experience was one of disorganised chaos. the hotel was seriously under staffed. our room had not even been cleaned bins had not been emptied, the bathroom was filthy, there was no toilet roll, the floor was wet from the previous occupants shower. The seal around the shower was covered in green mould. the door to the room would not lock.All of the above was highlighted to the staff on reception....my wife and I went out for 4 hours, upon retuning nothing had been done. I was given some toilet roll to take back to the room. The door would still not lock so we pushed a set of drawers up against it when we went to sleep.

IT WAS DISGUSTING, RIP OFF,...
Liked: It was disgusting. We ordered Omlette with Ham and Mushroom, we got a partially fried egg with cold Tinned mushrooms. The white of the egg was still running around the plate. He said " we will heat it up if you want" and "theHash browns will be ready soon!" See Foto!
Disliked: A totally different hotel! NEVER AGAIN!Neither of the 2 staff that we dealt with were capable in their role. The barman served a guest a "pint" which was about 3/4 full, and he said dont worry ill reduce the price!!!

Liked: Under new management and only in their 2nd week, have run in to a few issues, but overall the staff are doing a great job of keeping things going and were very hospitable and helpful to us during our stay. The food was exceptional, looking forward to seeing how this place develops.

Under New Management
Liked: A beautiful stunning building , just been taken over by new management. They had been open for a week and there was multiple rooms being sorted and maintenance being done, we were unfortunately not prepared to stay in our room. The staff were very friendly and helpful and had no problem with a refund. I hope they get on their feet soon as we would love to see it as a well deserved 4* Hotel.
Disliked: The new management were working on the Hotel and the rooms were being maintained with new locks. There is plenty for them to do and we hope they get it sorted soon so they can showcase the hotel as a grand 4* it advertises itself to be. We look forward to seeing the Hotel again.

Was okay for the price,...
Liked: Good location for amenities
Disliked: It had just changed owners, and there were teething problems. The menu had not been updated to now becoming a curry house, although they did offer other food, when we asked for steak, it was not available. The front of house staff was good, but a bit overwhelmed when the bar became very busy. The rooms need updating, black mould in the shower and our bin had not been emptied from the previous customers . On leaving, it was noticed that all the night before dishes and glasses still on tables inside and outside the premises
