Centennial Hotel

On checking into our room we found a left over tube of toothpaste and used floss on the bed. The hotel room was very hot and stuffy. We were woken early by noisy kitchen staff and the lady who served us breakfast was clearly rushed off her feet, and so when our breakfast arrived and we were served stale bread we felt we couldn't complain as the waitress was busy dealing with other customer complaints. We told the receptionist on checking out of the hotel and though she was very apologetic we were not offered any discount from our £120 room which is what we would have expected for such poor quality service.

Liked: Helpful and friendly receptionist.
Disliked: Overpriced; poor housekeeping; food not up to scratch.

Great choice for one night...

Liked: Excellently located - easy walk to the station. Lovely staff - very helpful. Breakfast excellent choice and very tasty. Close to the Botanical Gardens too.
Disliked: Nothing

Would have been a great...

Liked: Staff were polite and filled the requests that we had to a point.Breakfast was excellent.Reception was resourced 24 hours per day.The hotel was clean.
Disliked: We arrived during a heat wave although there were fans in the room they just circulated the hot air. There was no air-conditioning except in reception. We were on the second floor out of 3 and were advised that the higher up in the hotel you were the hotter it was, the hotel had no temp / mobile aircon available for the rooms.Due to the heat for the 3 nights that we were there we hardly slept a wink.It may be picky but the hotel really needs to invest in aircon.

Very good

Liked: Lovely clean modern public and bedroom areas. Staff very friendly and accommodating.
Disliked: There was no options other than cooked for breakfast. I don't like cooked breakfasts and a small selection of cereals and toast was my only options. Yoghurts and fresh fruit would be an excellent idea.

The hotel helped make this...

Liked: It was an easy, close walk to the train station, and a complete breakfast was offered each day. The staff was very courteous and provided great suggestions on what to see and do.
Disliked: The weather was very hot, but the hotel had no control over that.

Perfect for a weekend break.

Liked: Clean, quiet, comfortable rooms, friendly, helpful staff, great location, parking, good breakfast. It was super, super, hot weather and we had attic rooms but with two fans in each room we made it work and managed to get a decent night’s sleep- thank you!
Disliked: Some yoghurt available at breakfast would have been great, but the breakfast was still fine.
