Liked: The room was really nice, the bathroom was great. The staff were friendly and helpful, Caroline served us in the restaurant and she was great.Would definitely stay here again.

Average accommodation, average service, average...

Liked: Handy car park
Disliked: Asked 3 times for additional towels, there were two of us and only one set on arrival. Towels were not changed during our 4 night stay??Reported kettle as broken on morning of day 3 and asked it was replaced- either it wasn?t or the replacement was also faulty.

Lacking in service, expensive for...

Liked: Our room was well presented, good decor, clean and spacious. The parking was good and close to the rooms. The location is good with convenient road access to the main town, really nice grounds, but neglected, some of the planting needed attention as overgrown and failing to thrive, and attractive building.
Disliked: A few things : with regard to the room the hand basin tap dripped badly (almost a constant stream!) and despite telling reception/staff members three times it wasn't fixed (not environmentally sound!); there was no shampoo left in the bathroom; the heating in the room was on despite the outside temperature being in the twenties; the room was dark; not enough tea bags etc, we had to ask for more; the front window catch was broken so security was a bit iffy. With regard to the hotel the food wasn't very inspiring, too many precooked items and rather bland and short measures. The ale was much too cold and the bar service was appalling (some other people in the bar had to wait 25 minutes for a bottle of wine!!!).

Liked: Clean and comfortable room but a little dark and non functional table lamp on table
Disliked: Dining areas not as pleasantly presented as the room. Also of particular note When coming down for dinner first night We were a bit alarmed to see a dog sitting at a table and not sure the owner was feeding it but the dog had a bib onAlso strong odour on dinner menu which was replaced. Waited 30 mins for breakfast, salmon warm, egg cold. Should have complained but enough was said up to this point.

Liked: Breakfast.Helpful receptionist/ general managerConvenient for Barnstable
Disliked: Was expecting a "lodge" as described in write up but turned out to be rows of doors next to each other. On opening the door it lead up the stairs to the room .Main road noise. Noise from housing estate behind.

Rooms good staff good very...

Liked: Nice place bar staff very good . Food not so good I had the chicken & mushroom pie the pies pastry was so hard I had to the the angle grinder out of the van , when I finally got it open no sign of any chicken I did complain and they didn?t charge me so fair play to them . The point is after a days graft your looking footprint a coupled pints and nice plate of nose bag
Disliked: Better food . Last we where in Bristol at a green king called the black castle two meals for 9.99 marvellous value and good food ,they need to take a leaf out of there book

Liked: Not much.
Disliked: The restaurant absolutely stunk of deep fat frier, you could hardly breath in the place. There were dogs in the restaurant. It was under staffed The tables and menu were sticky and not cleaned The walls were stinking dirty. The food was awful, the chicken was crunchy, the morning breakfast eggs Benedict sauce was like a lumpy cold paste, they charged me for breakfast twice, the weed had grown over my bedroom so much there was no light in the room, the taps were broke....
