The Spotlight on Cedar Inn & Suites

Budget-Friendly Comfort Just Steps from Tahoe's Entertainment Scene

Modern convenience meets mountain charm at Cedar Inn & Suites, a laid-back hotel located right on the California-Nevada border in South Lake Tahoe. This no-frills spot is just a 5-minute walk to the area's top casinos and music venues, offering a prime location for fans heading to a big night out. With spacious rooms, free WiFi, and in-room coffee, it’s a solid base for your concert-filled adventure.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re less than 10 minutes on foot from live shows at major venues like Harvey’s Outdoor Arena and the Heavenly Gondola area. That means no need for rideshares or traffic battles after the encore. Despite its central location, the atmosphere stays relatively quiet — perfect for winding down post-show. Check-in starts at 4:00 PM, giving you time to settle in before evening events, and check-out at 11:00 AM lets you sleep in after a late night.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking to split a room and hit the casinos after the show.
Solo travelers catching a must-see artist in Tahoe.
Couples enjoying a music-filled weekend retreat.
Fans wanting a quiet space to recharge after loud nights.
Budget-conscious music lovers who want to stay close to the action without breaking the bank.

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, each room includes a microwave and mini-fridge for late-night snacks or leftovers. You’re only a short walk from plenty of dining options on Lake Tahoe Boulevard, with restaurants serving everything from burgers to upscale bites. Early or late, you won't go hungry.

Nightlife Options

Cedar Inn & Suites is in the heart of South Lake Tahoe’s nightlife zone. Walk just minutes to casinos with bars, live DJs, and lounges. Whether you're in the mood for dancing or sipping cocktails by the slots, you're in the right spot. Prefer something low-key? Plenty of cozy pubs and wine bars are nearby.

What People Say

Guests love the unbeatable location — close to music venues, dining, and the lake. Reviewers often praise the cleanliness of the rooms and the helpful front desk staff. Many mention it as a great value for the price, especially given how walkable the area is.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are simple and a bit dated, but they're clean and functional. If you're looking for luxury, this isn't it — but if you're here for the concerts and not the curtains, you’ll be just fine. Some guests note that parking can be tight when the area is busy.

The Bottom Line

Cedar Inn & Suites is a top pick for concert-goers wanting an affordable, walkable stay near South Lake Tahoe’s biggest venues and nightlife.

Passable

Liked: 7 mins walk from beach. You need to ask at the reception the pass for the beach or you’ll pay full price. Location is great but definitely way too expensive for the type of place.
Disliked: Rooms are very ugly, old and small, and kinda dirty. They don’t look like the pics AT ALL. TV is not working (only 3 channels), bathroom is awful, plus- it was 5 of us and we had 3 towels. Outdoor pool and hot tub are very dirty, lady at front desk couldn’t be more unwelcoming and didn’t even give us the beach passes. We had to go there and ask after a wasted trip to the beach. Absolutely not worth the money.

DO NOT BOOK. Worst experience...

Liked: Nothing. Awful experience.
Disliked: The rooms were disgusting. Old beer bottles, seltzer cans, candy wrappers, baseboards filthy, roof caving in from water leak, spiders in the corners, holes in the walls & duck tape on the window.

Liked: location
Disliked: It doesn't look anything like the photos. The place doesn't look nice from the outside. The room smelled bad, the towels were dirty, and there were traces of other people's things.

Bad

Liked: Good location...right behind Harveys and close to the beach. Even that wasn't great because they weren't letting anyone but locals on the beach for the 4th. We could just see the fireworks from the hotel parking lot.
Disliked: Room wasn't cleaned, pizza box still in the trash and the beds weren't made...I'm not completely sure the sheets were even clean. There were no washcloths and the floors were dirty. The managers were nice when we checked in, but when I called to complain about the noise from upstairs, I was told I had to call the police myself! We didn't sleep at all and got up and left at 6am! Never again! Not even for 1 night!
