The Spotlight on Cathedral House

Historic Charm Meets Live Music Energy in Glasgow

Nestled in Glasgow's atmospheric old quarter, Cathedral House is a beautifully restored 19th-century Scottish Baronial-style building with just eight individually designed rooms. Set right beside Glasgow Cathedral and the Necropolis, this boutique hotel blends Victorian architecture with modern comforts. Expect handmade beds, monsoon showers, and views that take in some of the city’s most iconic sights—all wrapped in warm, personal hospitality.

Why Concert-goers love it

Concert attendees will appreciate the hotel's central location—it’s just a short ride or even a walk to many of Glasgow’s major music venues. After the show, return to a quiet, peaceful atmosphere away from the city’s late-night buzz. With free Wi-Fi in the bar-bistro area and flexible check-in at 15:00, it’s easy to settle in before heading out for your gig.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for a memorable weekend
Solo travelers checking off a must-see artist
Couples wanting a romantic, music-filled city break
Fans who appreciate quiet after the encore
Budget-conscious guests who want character and charm without the chain-hotel feel

Food and Drink Options

While Cathedral House doesn't offer late-night room service, the on-site bar-bistro is a cozy place for pre- or post-show bites. You're also within walking distance of local eateries offering everything from gastropub fare to late-night takeaways. Breakfast is available and usually served late enough to suit those who’ve been out enjoying Glasgow’s music scene.

Nightlife Options

You're close to some of Glasgow’s best-loved pubs and live music bars—perfect for keeping the night going. Or unwind in the hotel's own bar, where the vibe is low-key and local beers are on tap. No need to brave the crowds if you'd rather sip something mellow and recap the show.

What People Say

Guests rave about the unique character of the rooms, the stunning views of the Cathedral and Necropolis, and the warm, personal service from the staff. Many mention how the hotel feels like a hidden gem—full of charm and far from the corporate hotel experience.

Areas for Improvement

With only eight rooms, availability can be tight—book early, especially around big concert dates. Some guests have noted the absence of a lift, so if stairs are an issue, it’s worth checking room placement in advance.

The Bottom Line

Cathedral House is a character-filled, peaceful retreat with a prime location for concert-goers looking for charm, comfort, and a true Glasgow experience.

Lovely homely stay

Liked: The room was spacious felt like home away from home. Loved that there was a fridge, fruit, tea and coffee facilities. Bed was comfortable and nice desk area which I used for working.
Disliked: The stairs up could have been a bit nicer

Lovely stay. Will probably choose...

Liked: Lovely cosy room. Nicely styled with modern bathroom with walk in shower, very clean. Ground coffee was nice and little touches with fruit/vermouth. The bed was very comfortable. Quick response when we had a question for the owner. View across to the Necropolis and East across the city. Some road noise with the window open but unavoidable in a city centre location.
Disliked: Nothing to complain about really. The buidling is quite old and has quirks you would expect - spiral staircase (which may be a little difficult for people with limited mobility), narrow door and some creaky floorboards. Not a problem for us, though as it added to the charm. The fan provided was very helpful for a warm night but a little noisy. Shame we stayed on a day the restaurant wasn't open - we would have loved to try it.
