Castle Hotel

The service was excellent; very clean; fantastic location; fantastic restaurant. I would go back like a shot. The staff were so friendly. The whole experience was 10/10.

Disliked: Nothing.

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay; staff very helpful throughout.

Liked: One of the nicest rooms ( single ) that I have ever stayed in; exactly what you needed in the room for comfort; nothing extraneous to cause clutter - so often the case.
Disliked: Breakfast was confusing; single member of staff at check-in; no real time to lead you through; waited rather a long time for cooked dish; apologies were forthcoming unsolicited, however, and the kipper was excellent ( as was the rest of the breakfast).

Liked: This is a beautiful property and suitably old inside with a modern brassiere with great good food and service was excellent . We had a cosy double which was clean and fine but in need of an update with scruffy window behind new blinds and a poorly installed fan which worked well but surface wiring across ceiling .spoilt ambience. Bathroom was fine but ageing . Overall nice place to stay but needs investment in rooms and so can’t give it a great rating

Great location, easy parking and...

Liked: Lovely big bedroom and very comfortable mattress.

Liked: Service was good. Room was big and clean and it’s a well preserved and maintained hotel right in the town center.
Disliked: Lack of lighting and charging facilities. The towel rack was not on and there was no air conditioning.

Great accommodation and beautiful setting....

Liked: I loved the location and history of the hotel.
Disliked: The price is quite expensive.

Liked: A very nice old building with super comfortable rooms.
Disliked: Breakfast was not great. A tired buffet full English in an adjoining restaurant, not in keeping with the aesthetic of the rest of the hotel.

Liked: The hotel is in an excellent location and very presentable.
Disliked: Was disappointed with the restaurant because we booked a table in advance of our trip only to discover the menu was not the same as on the website. We were told it had changed recently but then the hotel needs to change that on the website or notify the guests because we struggled to find an alternative place to eat. We were also surprised to discover that parking is changed at over £10 which isn't clear when booking.
