avoid the apartment

Liked: I'm sure the hotel itself is fine?
Disliked: The apartment is not like the hotel - cold and sad. it's not awful - but it's very, very different to the photographs on this site (which i think are almost exclusively photos of the hotel rooms). someone brought a little portable heater but the place was still cold, particularly the bedrooms/bathrooms. my mother-in-law didn't feel able to take her coat off :/ we checked out again almost immediately after checking in (for a 3 night stay) and the hotel refused to refund any of it. which was within their rights but ... well, just not very nice. after planning a few days away in what looked like a posh hotel, we felt like we'd been conned. booking this place was an expensive mistake for us. the hotel responded saying that it was all very clear on the site and i'd say take a look at my pictures and see if you agree. it's really nothing like the photos on the hotel's page. if you're looking at the Castle Hotel. & Apartments, be aware that the apartment is a very different kettle of fish to the rest of it. it should probably be a separate listing. it should definitely be cheaper.

Very good

A very comfortable stay in...

Liked: The location was great for restaurants, bars and independent shops. Very close to the Cathedral and Castle. Breakfast was great quality and absolutely delicious.
Disliked: The mattress was a little soft for our taste and old backs!

Comfortable and in a good...

Liked: The room was well appointed and comfortable.
Disliked: The walls were very thin and the toilet flushing in the next room was very loud especially in the middle of the night! Also the kitchen fan just below the window started up early .

Try somewhere else

Liked: The duvet was good quality and the tea and coffee facilities in the Coach house were generous.
Disliked: Both beds in the coach house were extremely uncomfortable with thin mattresses on unsprung wooden bases meant neither one of us could sleep. Also every time the boiler came on the pump ran loudly right by the side of one of the beds. Someone turning their radio on beneath us at 4.00 a.m. and leaving it going, didn't help either.Bathrooms were serviceable but small.
