The Spotlight on Carlton Park Hotel Rotherham

Comfortable Base Near Sheffield’s Best Music Venues

Modern and welcoming, the Carlton Park Hotel Rotherham sits just outside Sheffield, offering a relaxed stay with easy access to the city’s buzzing music scene. Located about a mile from Rotherham town centre and only 15 minutes’ drive from Sheffield Arena and other major venues, this hotel combines convenience with comfort. With free parking, complimentary Wi-Fi, and cozy rooms featuring 32-inch flat-screen TVs, it’s a smart choice for fans heading to a gig.

Why Concert-goers love it

It’s all about location and ease. The hotel is less than 15 minutes from major venues like Sheffield Arena and New York Stadium, making it a perfect base for catching a show and getting back without hassle. Its setting off the M1 at Junction 33 keeps you close to the action but away from late-night city noise, ideal for winding down after the encore. With a 3 PM check-in and 11 AM check-out, there’s a little flexibility to suit your travel plans.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a budget-friendly concert weekend
  • Solo travelers chasing a must-see tour stop
  • Couples making a weekend of shows and exploring nearby Sheffield
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who don’t want to compromise on comfort

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no mention of 24/7 room service, the hotel does offer on-site dining, and you’ll find plenty of walkable eateries and delivery options nearby in Rotherham. The hotel’s restaurant opens for breakfast — a lifesaver after a late night — and the bar is open into the evening for a relaxing drink post-show.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is more chill than party, it’s just a short drive or taxi from Sheffield’s vibrant nightlife — think laid-back pubs, live music bars, and clubs that keep the night going. It’s a great spot to retreat to after soaking up the local scene.

What People Say

Guests love the clean rooms, friendly staff, and free parking. Many mention how easy it is to get to Sheffield Arena or Meadowhall after check-in, and the quiet setting makes it easy to relax after an event. The hotel gets props for being great value and well-positioned for both concerts and countryside escapes.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviewers mention that the décor could use a modern refresh, and the Wi-Fi signal isn’t always the strongest in every room. But for the price and location, most agree it’s a solid pick for a gig-focused trip.

The Bottom Line

If you're heading to a show in Sheffield and want a peaceful, affordable place to recharge — the Carlton Park Hotel Rotherham hits the right notes.

Liked: Location for my particular visit
Disliked: Dirty roomMould on ceiling and the room smelt mouldyDecor was awful, wallpaper joined halfway up the wall crudely and wallpaper per ripped on other walls.Dirty taps, dirty bathroom tiles, dirty chair. Curtains didn’t meet and were dirty. Dirty furniture and skirting board dirty. No bar . Another hotel that in its hey day was luxury and a fabulous venue been bought up by Muslim people and turned into a cheap no frills room for the night. On my arrival my impression from the other clients staying in the accommodation that were at reception , I thought I was in a refugee canter! I didn’t get any sleep due to noisy clients in the other rooms around me talking loudly and banging doors. I will be sticking to the ibis at Bramley in future as much much nicer in every way, DEFINATELY NOT RECCOMENDING THIS “HOTEL” OR STAYING HERE AGAIN!

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: In need of serious refurbishment. Ex asylum seekers hotel. Lots of noise from other rooms. Prostitute activities rife. Booked a 4 night stay, left after the second night. Noise from adjacent rooms constant throughout the two nights stayed. No change of towels after first night stay and dirty towels still in shower where left, so bathroom not cleaned either. Do not stay at this establishment!

Decent hotel, but needs a...

Liked: The bed was very comfortable, a queen size sleigh bed with a firm mattress, comfy pillows and clean linen. The bath itself was very long and comfortable.Plenty of storage space, beautiful cabinet furniture, including a very tall wardrobe, perfect for hanging long dresses.
Disliked: The room wasn't clean - crumbs on the floor, wrappers on the floor, things under the bed.The bathroom itself needs a good makeover as the grouting was black in several places, several damp spots on the ceiling as if something had leaked through, shower didn't aim into the bath (twisted flex which wouldn't twist back), water pressure was just a trickle, and though the bath itself was comfortable, a long, languishing bath in a bathroom where you can see mould next to your head isn't relaxing. No plug sockets next to the bedside cabinets, only on the main dresser.
