I personally wouldn't stay at...

Liked: We had stayed at The Rex many years ago and had a much better experience back then. The hotel is nice & close to restaurants, public transport and all the tourist locations. Great view from the breakfast buffet area and rooftop bar Howling Moon. The manager Paul gifted me a nice dessert in our room service order on birthday, which was a lovely gesture.
Disliked: The room had a sewage smell everytime we re-entered the room. We stayed 3 nights, the 3rd day we didn't get our room serviced and when asked the lady at the desk, she had no reason why and just an apology. No offer for fresh towels. We got given a voucher for 2 free alcoholic drinks but as I don't drink alcohol I ordered a mocktail. They charged us for this at the end, if I knew I couldn't get a cocktail, I would've got my husband to get 2 beers.The breakfast was very below average. You're better off going for a short stroll to a near by Cafe for breakfast. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable and as it's a function venue, it is very loud at night with music/talking. Rooms are not soundproof so you can hear your neighbours in their rooms and the residential area across the way

Excellent place to stay with...

Liked: A comfortable place with super helpful staff. When we reached the hotel parking it was late evening and the parking was full but still the hotel security went above and beyond to help move stuff around to create a parking space and also later helping with the directions and recommendation for dining places nearby. Reception staff was super polite and efficient and helped with late checkout without any fuss. This will be my go to place from now whenever we visit Canberra or nearby places.
