Great facilities but remote location...
Liked: It was warm and great hot water. There was a nice bakery not far and it was quiet with very few people around. It was a short distance to the airport. It was very clean! Good kitchen. There were some nice animals in the park and a cool kids playgym. The cabins are well built and feel really modern and contained.
Disliked: I am sure it would have far more enjoyable:1. A car is essential, the place is so remote, and whilst it was close to airport, it cost as much as coming from Marseilles. Car is essential as walking to anywhere involves crossing serious roads with no foot paths. Wasn’t safe to go to carrefour even though it was short walk on the map. There is nothing to do in the area, I made a mistake thinking it was on the sea but actually it is on a lake with industry in the distance. Few destroyed buildings on the lake walk, didn’t feel French at all.2. You have to ask for internet they don’t voluntarily give you all your codes at reception, and in our case they had a holiday break, and there was no one to ask for the code. Our cabin didn’t have a kettle and they asked for a 20 euro deposit. 3. There are no towels, sheets or doona covers, and it costs for a family about 60 euros to hire normal sheets, or they sold me “recycled cotton” which is really disposable sheets for about 37 euros plus taxes. Hefty and not great to sleep on. Luckily we had our own towels.

Prolonged weekend in Vitrolles, France
Liked: We appreciated nearness of the camping from the local airport as well as the good accessibility of shops, train station. The accomodation of our cottage seemed to be new and everything worked properly. Check-out was easy, the locking card was left in the box outside the reception.Despite our ignorance of French language, the communication with the staff was not a problem, they were helpful to us.We liked the good accessibility of the beach and were positively surprised about the local camel zoo.The locality is fine for nature lovers as there are nice walking routes on the nerby cliffs and also bird watch spots.
Disliked: Before arrival it is mandatory to pay a deposit of 350 Eur which is quite a high price. They prefer online payment via a Swikley cervice which did not work on my device andseems not to be trustworthy enough. The cash is not accepted at the reception so only other method was to pay by card after arrival. You get a receipt at least...I would srongly reccomend to have a possibility to pay a deposit during the reservation via the Booking.com or to pay using the banking account. The information about the deposit should be highlighted on the Booking.com web pages !

Pleasant stay
Liked: The chalet was nice and clean and seemed more spacious than it should be, which was good. Quiet area, with just enough provided in the kitchen to be able to make do. Comfortable.nice space for kids to play should you have any, and the animals were very sweet. As for the area, if you dont have a car it's a long walk down a busy road to get to a supermarket. There is a lovely boulangerie (again crossing the busy main road) with reasonably priced food, but the biocoop next door to that is super expensive. Best travel down the road to lidl for a decent food shop. We did visit the online restuarant once but didn't see anyone, staff or customers despite the opening hours being open. The lake is beautiful especially at sunset, and there seemed to be somewhere next door to hire canoes perhaps. Not sure on ease of swimming as it was very windy on our visit. Plenty of friendly cats about too, which is nice
Disliked: Well to purchase some bedding for 1 small bed and a double bed was €25. I was told this is the best option as I could then keep the bedding, but it was so thin and felt like paper so I'm pretty sure it would have dissolved if put through the washing machine, so threw it away. Seemed a lot for some paper sheets. The 'beach' is also the edge of a lake, so not sure why it's called a beach, its not really somewhere for sunbathing. As mentioned the animals were cute, id like to have seen them in a space where they could be more comfortable and move about, rather than laying on mud and poop all day, not really sure of the purpose of them as they didn't seem to have anything to do all day, so is a bit of a confusion to me why they are cooped up Wish it was made a little clearer when booking that there was a €350 deposit in case of damages. They use a service that doesn't charge your card but takes the details but it's still worrying giving card details out in that way. Didn't see mention of this when booking so perhaps in the tiny print.
