Campanile Hotel Runcorn

Basic but adequate for a...

Liked: I have stayed at the Campanile, Runcorn many times over the past 20 years or so. It is very well located for Runcorn railway station and the old town. The outside environment of the hotel is pleasant, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I would describe the rooms as basic but adequate, and the same can be said of the breakfast. Cleanliness in the rooms is fine, with the bathrooms being notably clean. The hotel is OK for a short stay.
Disliked: The rooms haven't changed much in the past 20 year. They are looking tired and the decor is now a tad grim. The lighting, TVs and heaters have been upgraded but that's about it. The beds are not especially comfortable and I have felt springs through the mattress. The pillows are also tiny and very soft. The walls must be fairly thin, as noise seems to travel between rooms. Since the rooms are exposed to the outside, you can sometimes hear people talking on the walkways and in the car park, and it doesn't feel the most secure environment. I feel the room prices are sometimes high for what you are getting. They really need to invest some of that money into improving the rooms.

Liked: Good location. Good breakfast

A budget hotel good enough...

Liked: easy to find location, ground floor room as travelling with dog and dog allowed in the bar area, staff were very friendly and helpful and there is plenty of parking at a reasonable charge.
Disliked: The hotel is definitely a budget hotel, it is in need of some updating, the worst thing but of course cannot be controlled by the hotel, is it is right under the approach path for Liverpool Airport, so VERY noisy when planes are landing.
