Why Concert-goers love it

The location is a major win—just a 5-minute walk to Jesmond West Metro Station, putting you a quick ride away from Newcastle’s top concert halls and arenas. After a late gig, there’s no need to rush back—the hotel’s heated terrace bar stays open for evening snacks and drinks. What People Say

Guests rave about the spacious rooms, friendly staff, and the hotel’s excellent location for exploring Newcastle and its music venues. The on-site bar and bistro get high marks for quality and convenience, and the bonus of free parking is a rare find in the area.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the hotel can be a little lively on weekends—perfect for party-goers but light sleepers may want to request a quieter room. The decor, while colourful and clean, may feel a little traditional to those expecting ultra-modern interiors.

Great location for what we...

Liked: Location - ideally situated and within easy reach of Newcastle town centre.
Disliked: Attention to detail - no standardisation with the rooms. Anti-slip bath mats filthy. Thick dust in cupboards and on telephone handset. Television remote control didn’t work. No channels on television. Bottled water not replenished throughout stay. The safe in the room was not working , we then found out that the hotel had had problems with the safes and had decided to deactivate all of them. Not good enough for the size of the hotel. A number of the hotel staff looked and acted as though they didn’t want to be there. On our first night we chose to eat in the hotel. What a mistake that was!! The orders were taken and then the meals arrived incorrectly. No cherry tomatoes or garlic bread came with the pasta. We had to ask for the garlic bread. I ordered chilli con carni with rice. It arrived with chips. I asked about the rice and was told that the chef didn’t realise it came with rice. I was then given the option of waiting another 20 minutes for the rice, by which time my chilli would have been cold. Breakfast was poorly run for the volume of guests staying. The fruit and hot food were running out by 09.30, yet breakfast ran until 10.00. My husband stood and waited for 20 minutes for some bacon to arrive and then gave up as his breakfast was getting cold. The hotel has been given a 4 star AA rating. I am afraid that this hotel is only worthy of 2 stars at best. It’s a shame as it could be fantastic as opposed to being likened to Faulty Towers .

A good hotel let down...

Liked: The hotel itself was fine, especially given the low price. The shower was a decent pressure.
Disliked: The manners of some of fellow guests left a lot to be desired. Drunken shouting in the corridor at all hours, large groups shouting, grunting and swearing at each other in the breakfast room, coming to breakfast in bare feet etc. The hotel’s lift is also broken.
