Liked: Lovely friendly staff who were very welcoming. Perfect location and close to the city centre. Room clean, cool and comfortable - weather was extremely hot! Delicious breakfast in a tranquil dining room, can highly recommend the eggs benedict. Will definitely return.

Great B&B in a quiet...

Liked: The room was clean and as advertised. The bed was comfortable and quiet. There was great natural light, but the blackout curtain was solid and provided a nice, dark room when you wanted to rest.Breakfast, served at an appointed time fixed when you checked in, was delicious. I could have used a second pot of coffee, but I made it through. The property is less than half a mile from Bootham Bar, so it is an easy walk. However, your path takes you into a quieter part of town without many options for food or drink later in the evening, so plan accordingly. On the day of checking out, it was also easier to take our bags to a storage service beside the Minster than it was to walk back to the Inn before our afternoon train left town.
Disliked: I arrived in town mid-morning and wanted to drop my bag so I could get right to exploring. The Inn was locked up tight. Another guest who had the same idea emailed the host from the front stoop. A staff member came to the door and reminded us that it was not time to check in. She did allow us to drop our bags in the lounge area. When I returned, another staff member had kindly taken my bag to my room. Not a big deal, but had the other guest not been there, I would have seen York with my luggage. The property's Bar opens in the afternoon and closes by 8 PM. I did not take the opportunity to try it when I checked in, and that was the only time I was at the property during its opening hours. I did not press any of the staff for a drink during other times, but they may have been able to accommodate if I had asked.

Liked: Beautiful historic property in excellent location within walking distance of York city center.
Disliked: Fans are provided but it was a bit warm in the rooms.

Liked: The room was spotless and very comfortable. The breakfast was the best I've ever had. Each order is made from scratch with the freshest ingredients. I will always return to the Burton Stone Inn when in York. Close and convenient to everything by foot!
Disliked: Everything was perfect!
