Burrstone Inn Ascend Hotel Collection

We visited Utica College with our granddaughter. The motel is only 0.7 miles from the school. It was quiet and comfortable. The restaurant was very good and everything was very convenient. If this is the college then this will be our hotel. Would surely recommend it.

Exceptional

I was grateful I was...

Disliked: WE had to evacuate our home due to a major storm in the area. I booked for two days since the power was not expected to come back on. Luckily it did and I did not need the second day. Since I booked through booking, com I was not able to be reimbursed for the second night, I was hoping under the circumstances they could make an exception. I paid for the second night but did not use the room. Maybe someone else could have used that room since so many hotels were booked with local people.

Great experience

Liked: Check in desk clerk was cheerful. Room was clean, spacious and quiet. Had dinner at the in house restaurant and the food was amazing and good priced. I asked for a late checkout and they were super accommodating. They gave me way later than what is usually allowed which I appreciated greatly because of my schedule.
Disliked: There was one light that wasn't working(was not plugged in and no outlet to plug it into unless it was behind the bed) and no way to plug my phone in close to the bed.

Disappointing

Disliked: The entire pool area is an absolute disgrace, filthy pool and entire courtyard area. It is not heated, regardless of what they state. Also, cheeper to book online than calling, quoted me $73 more than booking online.I absolutely would not recommend this hotel.

Liked: The staff was very nice, the beds were comfortable
Disliked: The pool area, which was why we stayed there was absolutely filthy. We were there 3 days and no one cleaned the pool, tables or chairs, the fire area or the grounds surrounding the pool. Also, it is NOT heated, regardless of what they tell you. Just a real big disappointment overall
