Very good value for money.

Liked: A traditional hotel in a lovely setting. Our room was comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast.

Superb

Liked: The staff were so attentive to detail and incredibly helpful with an accessibility query I had - they went above and beyond to accommodate me which really made our stay special.
Disliked: The building is obviously quite old so it can get a little warm but we expected this coming during the summer months.

Lovely location, slightly tired

Liked: Lovely setting, beautiful views over the fields with the herd of red deer. Lovely to sit on the terrace/lawn in the evening
Disliked: We stayed on a Sunday night in the wing, there was a very loud wedding reception directly behind the room with music until late. We were staying with our baby who was woken up a few times by the noise of the music/the wedding guests returning to their rooms, it would have been nice if they had thought about this when allocating us a room.Hotel feels a little tired in places- some chipped furniture/paint. Outdoor pool had loose steps and a bit green at the bottom. Maybe a bit understaffed-the tables on the terrace weren’t cleared after people left etc

A must stay for anybody...

Liked: An amazing setting with such a beautiful house. The settings are majestic. The staff were also super helpful too
Disliked: It's a shame our door to the gardens was broken but I also understand this was unavoidable.

Very good

Liked: Staff were lovely. The location is beautiful!!
Disliked: Minor gripe, but I couldn't really fit in the shower. I'm 6'4 and had to bend to get wet. Only a tall person problem though.

Not repeating that hotel but...

Liked: Some of the people were really putting an effort and doing their best. Breakfast eggs Benedict were lovely.
Disliked: It lacks reinvestment, so many simple maintenance issues that could be fixed but are not. The room rate for entry room is a scam. Thankfully the receptionist suggested upgrade we paid for. Better room but very exhausted interior with never cleaned balcony that was covered in spiderwebs and had a bee hive on top above the chairs. Unfortunately I am allergic and we could not stay on the balcony. The pool was pleasant area but also not cleaned so the water carried layer of dirt. The food at breakfast was hit or miss. The desert at dinner felt scam too- 11 gbp for chocolate fondant with 1/2 of ice cream scoop and the smallest chocolate fondant, was delivered to our room when ice cream already melted- 40 minutes after order. We tried so hard to still be positive, wouldn’t have any issues with the above if the room rates were acceptable for what was offered. Unfortunately all the photos and instagram presentation is making it look like luxury and reality it’s sad.

Awful

Liked: The location was lovely and peaceful and we were lucky to see a whole herd of deer in the morning.
Disliked: Unfortunately we had a very bad experience with one of the guests in the bar area. We were staying to celebrate our wedding on the Monday, and were discussing the wedding day with our friends and how much we enjoyed it. This abhorrent women kept making comments at us and complaining that we were talking in the bar area as she had ‘paid a lot of money for peace and quiet’ she then proceeded to be rude about my husbands accent and said he was so drunk he was slurring his words. He actually suffers with a stutter and English isn’t his first language. This continued and continued whilst we tried to ignore her, the staff did try to move her but she refused, they then asked if they could deal with it themselves but then left her in the same place for her to continue to make comments to us and made me feel very sad and uncomfortable. In the end I felt so upset we left the area and drove elsewhere for dinner. This unfortunately gave a very negative start to what was meant to be our mini moon. Then to the room unfortunately there was no mini fridge so all of our lovely wedding chocolate gifted to us by our wedding guests had all melted and was ruined. The bathroom wall was damp and all the paint was chipping, and the room was unfortunately so dated. I thought to look past this and try to enjoy our time. I awoke the next morning and waited about 5-10 minutes at reception to book a spa treatment for me and my husband, to then be told the facilities were out of use for maintenance, could this not have been communicated at check in? I then saw the horrible woman again outside, so decided to go back up to the room. I called reception to request oat milk to the room so I could use the coffee making facilities and some water, I only unfortunately got to make half my order on the phone as the receptionist then rudely hung up on me, I had to call again to request more water.
