Liked: The location and design of the hotel and gardens is stunning. And yes, undoubtedly, it is all aesthetically pleasing, they had a good eye for detail when refurbishing this hotel. The food is indeed delicious and their wine list is superb. Staff are friendly and very kind. However, there are quite a lot of things that are definitely not ok and do not operate properly for a 4 star hotel. Running water is an issue, it stops working randomly and this goes on for hours at a time. Management also need to take a very good look at how they work out the final bill, they need to make sure there is more clarity, the invoice is poorly detailed and I had to basically show we had been overcharged. They were kind and refunded me but I should not have to scrutinise my bill on holiday and demonstrate discrepancies. Last but not least, the rooms are not cleaned properly, their cleaning staff need training or support. When we arrived, the bathroom was frankly not clean and this was the case in terms of daily cleaning too, so not a one off mistake. Their swimming pool is gorgeous but not clean, sadly. Same goes for the jacuzzi water. These need to be cleaned regularly like in any other 4 star hotel. The beauty of the place and kindness of their staff is not enough am afraid for the price tag. Their senior management needs to get the basics right and am sure then the hotel can flourish. It's got huge potential.
Disliked: I am sorry to even have to mention this, as staff are genuinely kind and they work hard, but, as stated above, there are serious issues with cleanliness of the rooms and of the swimming pool & jacuzzi. Their senior management need to get this sorted. It's also unacceptable that water stopped running in our room on 2 different days for 2-3 hours. Moreover, their final bill should be itemised in more detail and with more care. We were overcharged and frankly it's very uncomfortable to have to highlight discrepancies on a bill and ask for a refund while on holiday. They did refund me, but I have not had this happen for years and I travel regularly, it's very basic stuff.

Pleasant stay but shame about...
Liked: Breakfast was fine and so was the location.
Disliked: As it was my husband's birthday, I asked for a suite. They did not have any left in the Manor so I was told that I would be in a nice annex on the ground floor. On arrival, I was told the rooms were facing the gardens but in fact they were overlooking the car park. A big disappointment. I would not recommend anyone to stay in the annex.
