The magnificent building has a dramatic interior with a sweeping staircase and crackling log fires in the winter. Very good

Liked: I booked this hotel during a festival in a neighboring town and travelled back and forth. It's a lovely hotel in a quiet area. I didn't know at the time of booking that it has a reputation of being haunted, but taxi drivers in town seemed to know about that. I didn't experience anything spooky in that sense, but the overall vibe fit in well with being a haunted mansion, which I thought was fun.

Reasonably priced, decent price but...

Liked: The cooked breakfast was good and plenty choice but the addition of pastries would be good.I did sleep well in the bed and as a lone female I felt safe in the hotel. Beautiful grounds around the hotel so nice for an evening walk.
Disliked: The part of the hotel I was in was not part of the main building and there was an unpleasant smell in that area. The smell is probably from when you were allowed to smoke in the hotel and it was a little stale. The rooms have no air conditioning but a fan was supplied but on a hot summer evening in August it was a little warm in the room.

The hotel looked excellent and...

Liked: The setting was lovely and the hotel and stables looked like a very plush stay, unfortunately we were disappointed with the overall shabbyness of the place
Disliked: The dining room was bare and looked like it was used for storage, the bar staff were unprepared for more than two or three people to be served at a time. Our evening meal on the Saturday evening was very mediocre therefore we didn't have breakfast on the Sunday or Monday
