A two day break, with...

Liked: The food was very good, served hot and good quality plenty of choice service was excellent. We were given a warm and friendly welcome, bar staff were friendly and prices very reasonable. The carvery on the night time was very nice with plenty of choice of vegetables
Disliked: Decor needs a bit touching up, but don't be put off, still a lovely hotel.

A hotel with potential off...

Liked: The house is charming. In the morning 2 peacocks appeared in our window. The surrounding is rural and pastoral.
Disliked: Late at night there were no hot water in the shower.Breakfast is not in a buffet style. It was raining and the man at the reception could not recommend to us anything to do or see because he was "not from around here".

Dirty and tired

Liked: Handy location for visiting the Western Lake District.
Disliked: The room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, chandelier light fitting thick of dust and half of the bulbs missing (not just broken, physically missing). The shower was broken, with the inner tube visible and the silver covering hanging off, and the shower head holder broken so was balanced in one position and if touched, the shower just fell off. And the bathroom door handle was hanging off. Housekeeping was equally poor, the bathroom looked untouched and the used towels were still left in the tub with no fresh provided after the room was supposedly made up. To be fair they did give me fresh towels when I went to reception and they said it must have just been missed but given the rest of the poor condition of the place, it looks like quite a lot is missed in terms of cleaning!Absolutely not the standard of cleanliness or state of repair to justify the kind of prices charged - should be a low budget option at best. I won't be back.
