Disappointing as mentioned above, but...

Liked: Excellent large room, dinner was very good but with low staffing levels so service was slow. Breakfast was excellent. Comfortable public areas. Nice bathroom with good shower.
Disliked: Room very warm on arrival with no way to open any windows. Very cheap and partially broken fan provided. No telephone in the room with advice to contact reception via WhatsApp. No room service menu. No sink in the 'kitchen' area.

Liked: Lovely old property, room was spacious and comfortable
Disliked: Kettles not descaled, drink making facilities in the wardrobe? No shelf by the bathroom sink to keep toiletries on.There was a wedding on so short staffed, the staff working in the restaurant were very un-attentive.The prices of meals were quite steep. I had soup for starter which was £9 and I had to go and find a member of staff to ask for the bread that should have been served with it! Charged us for the wrong bottle of wine so I was overcharged £13, I had a schedule to stick to as travelling North so didn’t have time to correct this error.

Liked: Good sized room. Nice Location and grounds.
Disliked: Far too many stairs and no lift. No hot water in bathroom on first night. Bathroom uncomfortable ie no shelves to put anything on. No drinking water in room. No tissues. Breakfast very poor.

Felt like we stepped back...

Liked: A real Downton Abbey! Wonderful building with history and great staff to handle the guests. Rooms are comfortable, clean and relaxing.
Disliked: Lack of a lift can make it challenging for some to get to upper floor rooms.

Liked: The cleanliness, the staff, the beautiful location, the peace and quiet, The gardens, the breakfast, the kindness of the staff, the successful renovation of the room... The fish and chips at the bar, the gin... The parking in front of the establishment...
Disliked: The coffee tray in the room....A bit miserable, sugar packet already opened.....very miserable tray which does not correspond to the standing of this establishment......the kettle not descaled...the bathroom window not cleaned...and it's a shame that it was not renovated at the same time as the room
