The Spotlight on Britannia Royal Court Hotel

Classic Country Style Just Minutes from Coventry’s Music Scene

Set within 11 acres of landscaped gardens and parkland, the Britannia Royal Court Hotel is a traditional 19th-century manor house that blends countryside charm with easy access to Coventry's music venues. Just 3 miles from central Coventry and a 15-minute drive to the Birmingham NEC, it’s a great spot for concert-goers wanting a scenic retreat after the show. With on-site leisure facilities and multiple bars and restaurants, this hotel offers both relaxation and convenience.

Why Concert-goers love it

Music fans love the quiet, country atmosphere after an energetic night out. Its location just a short drive from the NEC and other major venues like the Coventry Building Society Arena makes it an ideal base. Taxis and rideshares are readily available, and with a 4pm check-in, you can settle in before heading to your gig. Though check-out is at 10am, the beautiful grounds and spa are perfect for a slow start to the day.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for an affordable base with bar options
  • Solo travelers attending a big-name tour stop
  • Couples enjoying a relaxed weekend around a concert
  • Fans seeking a calm, scenic spot to unwind after the show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers wanting value with character

Food and Drink Options

The hotel features a traditional Carvery Restaurant serving British and French dishes in an elegant setting. For lighter fare or a nightcap, the cozy Balmoral Bar overlooks the gardens and two other bars offer a wide selection of drinks and cocktails. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the dining options are perfect pre- or post-show, and breakfast is available to help you recover the next morning.

Nightlife Options

Though the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, it’s within easy reach of Coventry’s nightlife. Local pubs and bars are just a short cab ride away, and the hotel’s bars are ideal for a relaxing drink. If you're heading into Birmingham after a show, you’re only about 25 minutes from some of the city's top clubs and live venues.

What People Say

Guests appreciate the historic charm and peaceful setting, especially after the noise of a big concert. Reviewers highlight the value for money, spacious grounds, and friendly staff. Many mention the spa and pool as a great way to unwind. It's not modern luxury, but it offers a unique, comfortable experience.

Areas for Improvement

Some travelers find the decor a little dated and note that the hotel could benefit from a refresh. Wi-Fi can be spotty in certain rooms, and the 10am check-out might feel early after a late night — but a walk in the gardens or a trip to the spa can help ease you into the day.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a relaxing, budget-friendly stay near Coventry’s top music venues, the Britannia Royal Court Hotel delivers classic charm and easy access to the action.

Poor

Liked: Breakfast was lovely. Staff were nice.
Disliked: It isn't a SPA. This is misleading., only a swimming pool, lane swimming, hot tub, sauna and steam room. These are at my local Swimming pool. Also you have to pay for use of these facilities. Could not get lunch, even a snack..

Superb

Liked: Nice location in its own grounds. Lovely clean rooms comfortable bed.Good all round .brilliant for the price. I'd recommend totally. Free parking for guests. You must put your reg on a system at reception to avoid a fine. It has an indoor pool too.
Disliked: Some confusion over going into the restaurant for evening meal.Although we did check in after 7pm so that was probably the issue.3 courses for 14.50 so great value

Best not to stay here

Liked: The light switches and the 50s feel. The shower worked the bed was the largest I have ever slept in.
Disliked: The speed ramps are dangerous to the car. The furniture was in poor condition. The pillow was the worst I have experienced in years. They did not comply with my needs as a disabled person. It would have been more quiet in a city centre.

Superb

Liked: Spacious room. Spotlessly clean. All amenities - tea/coffee - Electric FAN - great as it was hot. Staff all friendly. Didn't use restaurant so can't comment. Lovely old style hotel. Would stay again.

Terrible on every single level....

Liked: Could be a great hotel - but needs about £100M spending on it.
Disliked: Desperately in need of renovation. Rooms very jaded look like they haven’t been maintained since 1978. Dreadful bathroom, shower barely big enough to squeeze into. If you stay more than 1 night, the rooms do not get serviced and the hotel staff point blank refused to clean and service the room. Disgusting. Policy is to service room once every four days. Seriously???Hotel keeps fire doors open 24 hours. Sorry isn’t this illegal? Fire hazard.
