The Spotlight on Britannia Royal Court Hotel

Classic Country Style Just Minutes from Coventry’s Music Scene

Set within 11 acres of landscaped gardens and parkland, the Britannia Royal Court Hotel is a traditional 19th-century manor house that blends countryside charm with easy access to Coventry's music venues. Just 3 miles from central Coventry and a 15-minute drive to the Birmingham NEC, it’s a great spot for concert-goers wanting a scenic retreat after the show. With on-site leisure facilities and multiple bars and restaurants, this hotel offers both relaxation and convenience.

Why Concert-goers love it

Music fans love the quiet, country atmosphere after an energetic night out. Its location just a short drive from the NEC and other major venues like the Coventry Building Society Arena makes it an ideal base. Taxis and rideshares are readily available, and with a 4pm check-in, you can settle in before heading to your gig. Though check-out is at 10am, the beautiful grounds and spa are perfect for a slow start to the day.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for an affordable base with bar options
  • Solo travelers attending a big-name tour stop
  • Couples enjoying a relaxed weekend around a concert
  • Fans seeking a calm, scenic spot to unwind after the show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers wanting value with character

Food and Drink Options

The hotel features a traditional Carvery Restaurant serving British and French dishes in an elegant setting. For lighter fare or a nightcap, the cozy Balmoral Bar overlooks the gardens and two other bars offer a wide selection of drinks and cocktails. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the dining options are perfect pre- or post-show, and breakfast is available to help you recover the next morning.

Nightlife Options

Though the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, it’s within easy reach of Coventry’s nightlife. Local pubs and bars are just a short cab ride away, and the hotel’s bars are ideal for a relaxing drink. If you're heading into Birmingham after a show, you’re only about 25 minutes from some of the city's top clubs and live venues.

What People Say

Guests appreciate the historic charm and peaceful setting, especially after the noise of a big concert. Reviewers highlight the value for money, spacious grounds, and friendly staff. Many mention the spa and pool as a great way to unwind. It's not modern luxury, but it offers a unique, comfortable experience.

Areas for Improvement

Some travelers find the decor a little dated and note that the hotel could benefit from a refresh. Wi-Fi can be spotty in certain rooms, and the 10am check-out might feel early after a late night — but a walk in the gardens or a trip to the spa can help ease you into the day.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a relaxing, budget-friendly stay near Coventry’s top music venues, the Britannia Royal Court Hotel delivers classic charm and easy access to the action.

Disappointing

Disliked: It looks like a wonderful place outside but the rooms are very tied. The only food is the carvery with two coaches of OAP’s which isn’t what I want as a solo traveler some good bar food would bring me back rather than Uber food delivery option.

The worst place I’ve ever...

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: Room was disgusting, dirty, exposed live wires in light switch, water marks in walls, mould in the bathroom and no plugs for charging as they had been changed to fit 2 prong lamps. Complained to reception twice as a car outside our window in their car park was blaring music constantly till almost midnight and they did nothing about it. Complained to hotel and their response was a standard template reply, escalated it and their staff member proceeded to lie and say he dealt with the music. We have videos to prove this is untrue. A party was happening in their function suit and kids from the party were running up and down the halls screaming and shouting all night.

Liked: After hearing other people say how bad the breakfast was . I did not bother to have breakfast
Disliked: A Bath plug that’s connected to the Bath . A sink that actually holds water in it. Cooler room. Doors that don’t bang out side the room.

We were happy with our...

Liked: Lovely outdoor area and garden. Our room was on the basic side but very clean. There was a fan supplied which was appreciated as the weather was hot. Plenty of parking. The situation suited our purposes. I enjoyed the breakfast.
Disliked: The building is a little tired and could do with some modernisation. There were only two dedicated spaces for disabled drivers so one day we had topark further away which was tricky. I was disappointed that although there was a pool hotel residents had to pay to use it.
