The Spotlight on Britannia Royal Court Hotel

Classic Country Style Just Minutes from Coventry’s Music Scene

Set within 11 acres of landscaped gardens and parkland, the Britannia Royal Court Hotel is a traditional 19th-century manor house that blends countryside charm with easy access to Coventry's music venues. Just 3 miles from central Coventry and a 15-minute drive to the Birmingham NEC, it’s a great spot for concert-goers wanting a scenic retreat after the show. With on-site leisure facilities and multiple bars and restaurants, this hotel offers both relaxation and convenience.

Why Concert-goers love it

Music fans love the quiet, country atmosphere after an energetic night out. Its location just a short drive from the NEC and other major venues like the Coventry Building Society Arena makes it an ideal base. Taxis and rideshares are readily available, and with a 4pm check-in, you can settle in before heading to your gig. Though check-out is at 10am, the beautiful grounds and spa are perfect for a slow start to the day.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for an affordable base with bar options
  • Solo travelers attending a big-name tour stop
  • Couples enjoying a relaxed weekend around a concert
  • Fans seeking a calm, scenic spot to unwind after the show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers wanting value with character

Food and Drink Options

The hotel features a traditional Carvery Restaurant serving British and French dishes in an elegant setting. For lighter fare or a nightcap, the cozy Balmoral Bar overlooks the gardens and two other bars offer a wide selection of drinks and cocktails. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the dining options are perfect pre- or post-show, and breakfast is available to help you recover the next morning.

Nightlife Options

Though the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, it’s within easy reach of Coventry’s nightlife. Local pubs and bars are just a short cab ride away, and the hotel’s bars are ideal for a relaxing drink. If you're heading into Birmingham after a show, you’re only about 25 minutes from some of the city's top clubs and live venues.

What People Say

Guests appreciate the historic charm and peaceful setting, especially after the noise of a big concert. Reviewers highlight the value for money, spacious grounds, and friendly staff. Many mention the spa and pool as a great way to unwind. It's not modern luxury, but it offers a unique, comfortable experience.

Areas for Improvement

Some travelers find the decor a little dated and note that the hotel could benefit from a refresh. Wi-Fi can be spotty in certain rooms, and the 10am check-out might feel early after a late night — but a walk in the gardens or a trip to the spa can help ease you into the day.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a relaxing, budget-friendly stay near Coventry’s top music venues, the Britannia Royal Court Hotel delivers classic charm and easy access to the action.

Absolutely loved our stay

Liked: After reading really bad reviews on TripAdvisor I was nearly in tears and was going to cancel.... I'm so glad I didn't. It was clean, beds were extremely comfortable and the room was very spacious. The decor may not be to everyones taste, but I loved it as did my son. The grounds were also wonderful.

Absolutely terrible, do not stay...

Liked: Location for arena
Disliked: I had my rear windscreen of my car smashed in the middle of the night. The staff couldn’t be less interested and unhelpful. This is over a month ago now and they still haven’t given the cctv footage to the police. Mine wasn’t the only car to be damaged, there was at least two others with their windows blown out. There could’ve been more that had already driven away. The spa facilities are disgusting. All old, very grubby and unhygienic. The steam room smells of mould and is very slimy. The showers are filthy and I dread to think if the jacuzzi ever gets cleaned out. I didn’t go in it sufficed to say. I have eaten there before and I am not a fussy eater but the food is hilarious. Everything is either out of a can or freezer. It really is the worst food I’ve ever been served up. I visit Coventry once a year and have stayed there several times as I actually thought it was funny that somewhere could be so bad and it was very cheap. But this year when I had the trouble with my car, I discovered that it’s not even a safe place to leave a vehicle and no one cares. It’s definitely not worth the risk with your car. I spoke to some locals that told me they have incidents of vandalism and worse in that car park quite regularly.

Couldn’t wait to get out...

Disliked: The room was very hot I had no toilet roll in the bathroom the quilt was a winter one the bed had a big dip in it woke up with a bad back the chain on the bath was broken so struggled to get plug out as my hands are not good to grip no bath rails to get in and out no menus for room service usually have menus in room and numbers to ring had none of that I’ve stayed here a few time but this has had to be the worse I was in room 468

Absolutely awful

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: The room was dirty, the beds were awful, lack of pillows, spiders all over the room. There were spiders all under the cover outside the main entrance to the property. The ‘restaurant’ was not a restaurant at all it was dirty, basic, the food was disgusting. I travelled with an 8 year old and the entire experience was disgusting - she couldn’t have anything to eat we had to order in food after paying to eat at the hotel. I paid at reception before being able to see what food was available.

Our stay was OK, but...

Liked: The location is great, quiet area of the city. There was parking and 24/7 reception. Beautiful lobby area and beautiful garden. There was heating and hot water day and night. It was easy to find the resort.
Disliked: The rooms were a bit tired, instead of a double bed they given us two single beds pushed together which was very uncomfortable and despite the fact that we specifically booked a room with a proper double bed. The cleaners were VERY noisy and inconsiderate of the fact that guests were still in rooms nearby where they were cleaning. Never heard so much housekeeping noise anywhere else and we do stay frequently at hotels around the UK.
