The Spotlight on Britannia International Hotel Canary Wharf

Classic Comfort Near the Beat of London

A traditional and spacious hotel in the heart of Canary Wharf, the Britannia International Hotel offers timeless comfort just a short ride from some of London’s most iconic music venues. With views over the Docklands and easy access to the Underground, it’s a convenient base for concert-goers looking to balance excitement with a peaceful night’s rest.

Why Concert-goers love it

The hotel’s location—just 10 minutes by car from the O2 Arena—makes it a top pick for fans heading to big shows. With Canary Wharf Underground Station only 1969 feet away, late-night travel back from gigs across London is surprisingly easy. The hotel’s quieter Docklands setting provides a welcome retreat after the noise and energy of a show. While check-in starts at 16:00 and check-out is by 10:00, the spacious rooms give you plenty of room to crash and recover—even if you roll in late.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for an affordable base near the action
  • Solo travelers ticking off a bucket-list gig at the O2
  • Couples making a weekend of it with shopping, shows, and sightseeing
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space away from the crowds
  • Budget-conscious music fans who want value without sacrificing location

Food and Drink Options

Jenny’s Restaurant serves up hearty British classics and cooked breakfasts—perfect after a late night. The on-site Pizzeria offers Italian cuisine, light lunches, and snacks, which are ideal for grabbing a bite before or after a show. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the hotel’s dining options stay open late enough for most post-concert cravings, and there are plenty of walkable eateries in Canary Wharf.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, you’re close to some of East London’s best bars and lounges. The nearby Canary Wharf area has upscale cocktail bars and cozy pubs perfect for pre- or post-show drinks. If you're looking for something more low-key, the hotel offers a relaxed bar setting with local drinks and a quiet vibe.

What People Say

Guests often praise the spacious rooms, many with Docklands views, and the convenient location for events at the O2. Reviewers also like the value for money and the accessibility to public transport. The traditional style isn’t flashy, but it’s clean, comfortable, and consistent—especially for those who just need a good night’s sleep after a big show.

Areas for Improvement

WiFi in rooms is limited and not always reliable unless you upgrade. The decor is a bit dated, and check-out at 10:00 may feel early after a late night, though staff are often flexible if asked nicely. It's not a modern boutique hotel—but for the price and location, it does the job.

The Bottom Line

A solid, no-fuss choice for concert-goers who want comfort, convenience, and a great location without breaking the bank.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Miss M, Chichester, visiting O2 Arena London

Your websites suggests the hotel to be of a far higher standard than it is. It's decor is tired with peeling wall paper. The hot water is questionable as to whether you get any or not. The overall room temperature is unbearably hot and the air conditioning did not work. Overall an incredibly disappointing hotel which was meant to be a special occasion. We would not stay here again.

Liked: Friendly reception staff.
Disliked: The room temperature was 28.3 degrees from the moment we entered the room! It was unbearable. Reception provided one fan which quite frankly was ineffective. Neither my sister or I slept due to this hideous heat. We also had a problem with the hot water - I had a freezing shower which started to warm up just as I got out.

The worst hotel experience

Liked: Nothing ! The hotel was terrible! The staff were extremely unwelcoming, not there to help but rather to belittle guests.
Disliked: The hotel was terrible! The staff were extremely unwelcoming, not there to help but rather to belittle guests.I was charged twice for breakfast and never got a refund.I also had to pay an extra fee to be upgraded, which ended up doubling the price of my room — almost twice the rate that was actually being offered that day.The room itself was far from clean, noisy, and nothing like what was advertised. There was absolutely no sense of hospitality.Honestly, this was the worst hotel experience of my entire life. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Overall, great location and hotel

Liked: The location was amazing! I had an event at the London Excel, and it only took about 25mins total to get there (very quick). Hotel is also very close to the Jubilee line which you can connect to central London very easily.
Disliked: While the on-site restaurants were very convenient, I wish there had been more options with smaller portions. I was a solo female traveler, and the portions were way too big for me and I felt like I was wasting food.

Avoid at all costs

Liked: Friendly staff, good location
Disliked: Tiny, windowless room with no air conditioning. 37 degree in the room all night. A disgrace for the price they charge.

Horrible Experience

Liked: No AC. Staff was rude. We paid for room with window but were given an accessible room. No salt in food. The rooms were claustrophobic.
