The Spotlight on Britannia Inn Glasgow

Affordable Comfort Steps from Glasgow's Music Scene

Modern and conveniently located, the Britannia Inn Glasgow sits right next to Charing Cross Rail Station in the heart of the city. With simple, clean rooms and easy access to Glasgow's buzzing entertainment and shopping districts, it's a solid pick for anyone coming to town for a show. A quick 2-minute drive from the M8 and just 8 miles from Glasgow Airport, the hotel makes getting in and out of the city easy—no fuss, no frills.
Rooms feature private bathrooms, TVs, tea/coffee facilities, and workspaces, with some upgraded options including king-size beds. It’s a practical, value-friendly base for your music-fueled Glasgow getaway.

Why Concert-goers love it

The location is a winner—just a 5-minute walk to the O2 ABC Glasgow, and only a bit further to other major venues like the SECC. Late shows aren’t a problem with rail connections right next door and easy access to taxis and local buses. Being in the city center means you can stumble home after the encore, but the rooms stay quiet enough for a decent night’s sleep. While check-in starts at 16:00, it’s worth calling ahead if you're arriving early or heading to a pre-show meet-up.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for an affordable crash pad near the action
- Solo travelers checking off a dream gig
- Couples planning a weekend of music and city exploring
- Fans wanting a quieter place to recharge post-show
- Budget-conscious music lovers who want value without sacrificing location

Food and Drink Options

The hotel serves a cooked buffet breakfast—a must after a late night—and there are plenty of cafés, pubs, and late-night eats within walking distance. While there's no restaurant on-site, the central location puts you steps from takeaway spots and casual diners. Note: no 24/7 room service, so plan your munchies accordingly.

Nightlife Options

You're in the thick of it here—bars, clubs, and lounges line the nearby streets, and live music venues are all within a short walk. While the hotel itself doesn't host live music, plenty of local pubs and cocktail spots nearby do. For a more relaxed scene, plenty of local bars serve up Scottish craft drinks and casual vibes.

What People Say

Guests often praise the unbeatable location and great value for money. Reviews highlight the friendly staff, clean rooms, and the convenience of being able to walk to gigs and shopping. Travelers also appreciate the option of rooms with king-size beds for a little extra comfort.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are on the basic side, and the decor is a bit dated—but most guests agree it’s perfectly serviceable for a short stay. Some guests mention that the check-out time of 10:00 is a little early after a late night, so be sure to ask about a late check-out if needed.

The Bottom Line

The Britannia Inn Glasgow is a smart, budget-friendly choice for concert-goers who want to stay central, sleep comfortably, and save their cash for merch and drinks.

It felt like we were...

Liked: I liked the location of this hotel.
Disliked: It felt like we were staying in a homeless shelter. The breakfast was pretty poor. The quality of the food was very cheap and not cooked very well. Cutomers were helping thmselves to items from the buffet without tongs. Loads of single males staying there on their own.

Met my expectations

Liked: The room space and bathroom - all good.
Disliked: The heater didn't work for my room but I had confirmation from the reception that it was turned on so I just avoided back and forth and survived for the 2 days.
