Lovely stay in this hotel

Liked: The staff were really friendly and super efficient, they couldn?t do enough for us. They made the stay really enjoyable. The dining room and bistro were really nicely done.
Disliked: The hotel is tired looking in the rooms.

Enjoyed our stay

Liked: The views and location are fantastic and the building is lovely with a lot of history. The rear garden is very well looked after and tables on the lawn are relaxing spot to enjoy the views. Breakfast was very tasty with perfectly poached eggs. Bedding was of good quality -crisp and fresh. The beds were comfortable.
Disliked: Some improvements/ updates needed in the rooms.

40th Anniversary break , belated...

Liked: We stayed for 3 nights in the end , the property was excellent, we had a four poster bed room with a lovely view out over the Brecon Beacons and the river Usk, the room was excellent but quite hot due to the weather giving us a heatwave, we asked for a fan and they happily supplied one , which made it bearable, the breakfast was excellent, and we chose to have our evening meals at the hotel, they had a great choice and the meals were great,
Disliked: I?m afraid the hotel is battling with the Brecon Beacons national park at the moment, over replacing of there wooden sash windows, we were only able to open one set of windows, of which there were three, the other ones were screwed shut for safety , the bathroom window was also screwed shut so no ventilation and no fan to extract hot air etc;, also the shower was useless had to take it off the wall and use it that way, as not enough pressure to give a decent shower, this is not the hotels fault it?s just the lack of help from the trust , come on beacons trust sort it out .

Liked: Great location, friendly staff lovely gardens to relax in , nice building with a bit of history Lovely breakfast
Disliked: room was rather 'tired' - I'd say in need of updating re; the carpets frayed and bathroom door wouldn't close but it didn't spoil our stay we had a lovely time anyway

A little disappointing compared to...

Disliked: Cold matter-of-fact welcome. Room not as clean as should have been - cobwebs around bathroom windows. No curtain to front door so that could be looked in from outside. No fresh fruit at breakfast.

Terrible stay - noisy &...

Liked: The location was good, literally that was it.
Disliked: No water to have a hot bath or shower.Above the beer garden , so an early 3am start to trek was already going to be nightmare.Noise next door and landing from next door and others walking past room. The curtains so thin and outside light on the terrace so bright , felt like the lights in the room were on all night. My friends television in room 24 - no tv that worked.Overall we booked 5 rooms for a trek tour, only 1 room was quiet and the rest of the team got no sleep and all had a terrible experience.DO NOT book if you want an early start to trek , ensure you don?t have rooms 31 or 24.Messaged hotel - awaiting response , worse 113 spend per room.Photo of the light outside the room was taken at 00.33 as worked up with too much noise. Then couldn?t sleep because too bright.
