Good location, but not great...

Liked: Location is nice scenic
Disliked: You basically pay premium for the “views”. In terms of value for money it’s not great - our room was a bit stuffy, furniture a bit old and breakfast was quite disappointing (they served average full English, but we waited long time for coffee and eggs). Overall I wouldn’t stay there again.

Liked: A charming old house on a Wonderful Place. We stayed 2-times here - and libed in one very small room and the next time in a large, nice room. The breakfast is very good.

Used to be a great...

Liked: The location and the memories of how the hotel used to be and good time spent there over the years.
Disliked: The afternoon receptionist behaviour at check in was appalling, the night porter was also unhelpful and had a strange demeanour. The hotel decor is tired from the decking outside to the worn out carpets and wallpaper falling off of ceilings and tired furniture. My only conclusion is they are winding it down to sell up. It’s unrecognisable to the standards that the hotel used to uphold.

Lovely stay with friendly staff...

Liked: Lovely big rooms and nice and clean. A bit tired in places but not far from centre of Edinburgh by bus which is right outside the hotel! Lovely staff and great sunset views . I’d definitely stay again . Doesn’t have a lift but it didnt matter to us

Very enjoyable visit.

Liked: Great breakfast and meal in restaurant was very tasty. Was easy getting the bus back and forth into princes street.
