Disliked: Hotel called and cancelled our booking with no explanation leaving us to have to find alternative accommodation.

Our stay should have been...

Liked: We booked this hotel as it had parking and a restaurant. On arrival, we discovered that the hotel was closing in 2 weeks’ time and the proprietor had disappeared. The bar was shuttered as it was unlicensed, and the restaurant was not open. Breakfast was served, however. Our room was comfortable enough, but the shower only ran cold. The other bedroom occupied by our friends was cramped and they had similar problems with the shower. The whole stay was a real disappointment, alleviated by the two wonderful staff members who had been left to keep the place running and were cleaning, doing laundry and providing breakfast (both were qualified chefs), knowing that they would shortly be unemployed and by no means certain of being paid.
