Nice location, needs attention for...
Liked: Location, view
Disliked: Expected to be rustic but seemed more dated. It was private with current date and activities. Clean except needs good spring cleaning! Air conditioning didn’t work, now screens on doors to cool off the warm day before bed.

Exceptional
Liked: Everything. Clean and comfortable. Quiet day and night.
Disliked: My only complaint... The restaurant staff needs to step it up. Waiting to be seated in an already sparse dining room, is uncalled for.

A sweet Kentucky memory that...
Liked: The facility itself is unique for its location in the battlefield park, its historical aspects, the lodge's refined quality of construction and workmanship ~ not a cookie cutter hotel ~ with an overall ambiance of timelessness ~ solid material structure and design. Loved the dining room, it is grand and well-appointed with compelling artifacts and paintings. Loved the gift shop ~ many beautiful items covering a gamut of souvenir choices ~ whether jewelry, coffee mugs, t-shirts & hoodies, soaps ~ all pure Kentucky at gracious pricing. Because we were traveling with our pet, a yellow lab, our room was lower level but so conveniently situated with outdoor patio and dining area ~ lots of green grass for Nala, too. We opted for a King Suite and the room was spacious with a kitchenette, seating room, and a very comfortable king size bed. The sheets and pillows were A+ ~ exceeding expectation. Room also had a telephone which actually worked and provided easy contact with staff at reservations or dining room! There were adequate power outlets for all techy devices. Overall, the suite layout was great and accommodating for all our stuff without seeming crowded in any way. We had chosen Blue Licks for its close proximity to Flemingsburg where we were attending a 4 day festival ~ which did not allow extra time to explore the park, alas! This is a fabulous setting and facility for a wedding or family reunion. With regards to the staff ~ all interactions were genuinely gracious ~ lovely people. One more word here ~ we only had time to partake breakfast at the lodge but on both occasions the food was outstanding and not overpriced!
Disliked: Only one drawback on the lodge and that is the room should be aired out prior to guest arrival. This is not to say it wasn't clean or stuffy ~ but that the cleaning solvents used to refresh the room were overwhelming upon entry. We had to air the room for several hours by opening up back door to patio.
