Black Ivy’s lively bar and brasserie are local favorites in their own right. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the restaurant offers late-night dining and hearty options perfect for post-concert cravings. The neighborhood is filled with walkable cafes and eateries, and you can enjoy a laid-back breakfast the next morning without rushing.

Nightlife Options

Start or end your night at the hotel’s own buzzing bar, known for its stylish interiors and solid cocktail list. You’re also within walking distance of Edinburgh’s best pubs, clubs, and lounges, many hosting live music or DJ nights. Whether you’re in the mood to keep the evening going or wind down with a local craft beer, you’ve got options.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly atmosphere, stylish decor, and great location—close enough to the city center to be convenient, but far enough to enjoy a quieter night’s sleep. The bar gets high marks for its energy and design, and many guests note the hotel’s good value compared to more central spots.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that rooms facing the bar or street can pick up a bit of noise—if you’re a light sleeper, it’s worth requesting a quieter room. Breakfast isn’t always included in the rate, so double-check when booking.

The Bottom Line

With a great balance of style, location, and comfort, Black Ivy is a top pick for concert-goers wanting to experience Edinburgh’s music scene without sacrificing a good night’s sleep.

We enjoyed Edinburgh but a...

Liked: The room was spacious, modern with a comfy bed and a very good ensuite. The location by the Meadows was lovely as it was outside the main city centre but within easy reach of the centre on foot or by bus. The welcome staff were helpful and made you feel welcome when you arrived. Some good restaurants in easy reach.
Disliked: Our stay was not good as the room was in the front over the bar and outside seating. There was an extended licence every night for the four nights of our stay so there was constant noise and we did not get to sleep until past one 1am every night. The food was general pub food and we only ate there on the night we arrived. The breakfast was particularly disappointing as it was completely inflexible with no choice of cereals or fruit, only porridge or granola. It was not possible to deviate from the set combination on the menu and on one day in particular, my husband requested a reduced cooked breakfast and it came with everything and he was told he had to have everything even if he didn't want it.Parking was difficult and our car was parked some four streets away where the charge was slightly less. Parking is via an app.
