Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything, and Black Ivy delivers. You’re a 15-minute walk from major venues like Usher Hall and the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. After a late-night gig, the quiet residential neighborhood and park views offer a calming contrast to the crowds. Flexible 3:00 PM check-in and 11:00 AM check-out let you take your time, and with Edinburgh’s reliable taxis and late-night buses, getting around is a breeze.

  • Fans who prefer a quieter stay after the show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want boutique vibes without breaking the bank

Food and Drink Options

Black Ivy’s lively bar and brasserie are local favorites in their own right. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the restaurant offers late-night dining and hearty options perfect for post-concert cravings. The neighborhood is filled with walkable cafes and eateries, and you can enjoy a laid-back breakfast the next morning without rushing.

Nightlife Options

Start or end your night at the hotel’s own buzzing bar, known for its stylish interiors and solid cocktail list. You’re also within walking distance of Edinburgh’s best pubs, clubs, and lounges, many hosting live music or DJ nights. Whether you’re in the mood to keep the evening going or wind down with a local craft beer, you’ve got options.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly atmosphere, stylish decor, and great location—close enough to the city center to be convenient, but far enough to enjoy a quieter night’s sleep. The bar gets high marks for its energy and design, and many guests note the hotel’s good value compared to more central spots.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that rooms facing the bar or street can pick up a bit of noise—if you’re a light sleeper, it’s worth requesting a quieter room. Breakfast isn’t always included in the rate, so double-check when booking.

The Bottom Line

With a great balance of style, location, and comfort, Black Ivy is a top pick for concert-goers wanting to experience Edinburgh’s music scene without sacrificing a good night’s sleep.

Wonderful place to stay in...

Liked: The location worked great for us because it was not right in the center of town but close enough and easy enough to get anywhere. The room was beautiful! We loved the large room with high ceilings and the wonderful view of the park. Everyone was friendly and helpful, the hotel was beautiful and the food and drinks were great.
Disliked: Noise from the patio is audible in the park facing rooms. Mostly it was fine but Saturday night was loud with a group leaving a party that hung around outside at 1 am making a lot of noise.

Exceptional

Liked: The rooms were fantastic, super cosy and comfy and also huge for the price. We needed to be up and out early in the morning and the staff organised a early cooked breakfast for us on both days which was really kind. Beautiful location next to the park too, we walked into town each day which was lovely. Thanks again for everything!!!

Rooms attached to a large...

Liked: Near wonderful park and amenities. Large room. Staff helpful when asked.
Disliked: Not really a four-star hotel, rather, it is some back-end rooms attached to a trendy bar and eatery. Therefore, no public lobby or other rooms; a bar and restaurant do not qualify. Overpriced for what it is. The numerous pictures and other fake-boutique elements are annoying because they are all so cheap and there is no love shown in the concepts or their execution. The stock pictures are attached with front-showing screws, fresh from Ikea. Junky advertisements piled up in bathroom; again, no love.
