This brief getaway has been...

Liked: Everything, especially the spacious room and downstairs living area with games and cozy reading nooks.

Just what you would imagine...

Liked: There was plenty of space. Our rooms were in an adjacent building, but the main building had several rooms that were decorated for the holidays. We took full advantage of the common space and, to be honest, were the only ones we saw using it most of the time. The rooms were comfortable. They had fireplaces/woodstoves but they did not seem to be operable. Check in and breakfast was in a nearby sister location, which was not too inconvenient, but the weather was mild. There was plenty of coffee, etc. on our property. We happily opened Christmas presents by the inn's tree, which was nice. Breakfast was "continental" but nicely presented.
Disliked: We totally understand the difficulty and cost of running a business like this, but the absence of staff was at times difficult and unsettling. Simple things like understanding how the heating systems worked, how to access the TV, how to work the fireplace, etc. was difficult to discover without available staff. I eventually got a staff member on the phone, but a text I sent (their stated preferred method of communication) was never answered.

Fabulous location but not good...

Liked: Decor and historic aspect of the property. Easy parking. Walking distance to town.
Disliked: No lift. Mis understanding regarding private bathroom. Having to access a bathroom across the corridor at this price is poor. TV and Av very poor - lack of channels and no instructions provided. Some power sockets didn’t work.

Lovely location, nice accommodations but...

Liked: I liked the vibe and the living room. The proximity to town. Room was comfortable.
Disliked: The check-in process was bonkers. We were told in an email to go to the Constance. There was a person there, but she had no idea what we were talking about. Then we got a text to go to the Whitlock. The person there (the only person we actually interacted with) (Logan maybe?) was super friendly and apologized for the inconvenience and gave us one key. SO we thought we were checked in. However, that evening at 10 PM, we were alarmed to hear someone attempting to key into our room. No knock, just trying to key in. We were in our beds in pajamas and were totally freaked out. We asked Hello? Can we help you? and the person on the other side of the door (a male) did not identify himself, but just said he "didn't know we had checked in and was checking - that he was leaving our second key in the room" we thought that was super weird. We declined the key, unsure of who was at the door or if it was a trick of some kind and he left. We then called the local number and spoke with Jeff who was very apologetic, that the man was Rob or Ron (?) and that late check-in practice is to leave the key in the room. I guess for the cost of the single night, I expected that everyone involved would be communicating who has checked-in or not. I understand there were some staffing issues and a wedding party at the Constance, but it was strange pay so much for a seemingly DIY inn experience and to also get scared out of our wits with s creepy key-in situation at 10 PM.

A good location and a...

Liked: Location was good, just up the street from restaurants and bars. Room was a decent size.
Disliked: Check in was messy - instructions were to go to one place yet when we got there we were told to go somewhere else! Frustrating after a long drive. Our room was on the 2nd floor and with no lift carrying 2 suitcases up some narrow and steep stairs was a challenge. Other than to get our key we never saw another member of the staff.

Liked: Easy to find beautiful
Disliked: We are old and we’re given a beautiful room on the third floor. Stairs were not fun. Room nine has a great bathroom.

Overall nice one night stay...

Liked: Close proximity to Tanglewood & town.
Disliked: I would have appreciated a full breakfast, rather than continental. No attached bathroom. Even though it was just across the hall, it was inconvenient to dress appropriately. Also, other patrons would try to use thinking it was a community bathroom.
