It is a lovely place...

Liked: Great looking place and the rooms are really comfortable, well fitted and clean
Disliked: I’d stayed about a year earlier and that was a better experience. The food this time was not as interesting, smaller portions and cost more. Last time the food was really fabulous and special. The waiter didn’t really seem to understand the menu that well and was not interested when we said the filet steak was tough and £43.The coffee at breakfast was really poor and desperately weak. I was offered an americano from the bar which I declined but that’s not the point.

Totally relaxing

Liked: We have stayed at the hotel before and it was lovely to return. Great location, close to Stratford and lovely grounds to relax in. The one bonus this year is that air conditioning has been installed in the rooms, which was very welcome as we had hot weather. The staff were experiencing technical difficulties with check-in when we arrived and couldn't cut key cards, but they couldn't have been more helpful in escorting us to our rooms when needed.
Disliked: Train the bar staff to have a bit more flexibility on the menu. We wanted to order the cream tea for 3 people but it was only served for two. The extra scone wasn't a problem - but giving the staff the leeway to make sensible decisions and how to charge for exceptions would be a good thing to do.

Lovely grounds and Facade, won't...

Liked: Stayed for 2 nights and arrived as a large family group over several rooms. The grounds were lovely as was the hotel facade, Dining room manager was very friendly and welcoming.
Disliked: Most of the staff were lacklustre and couldn't get food orders right even for simple foods, 1 meal ordered was a vegetarian sandwich which arrived with chicken in, when staff were asked if it could be corrected they returned with "Sorry we can't do the vegetarian sandwich". We had to ask 3 times over 30 minutes for the same cup of coffee, which was eventually delivered after the bill had been paid. One waitress staff stated she needed a little helper as she couldn't cope, I noted 3 of the 15 or so tables were in use, the rest were empty. We went as a large group of the same family and took various rooms, most of us had to order food from outside to be delivered via deliveroo or such like. Grand stairway carpets were grubby and had the same food droppings on them 2 days in a row. On arrival our white bathroom floor had long dark hairs on it, (neither of our party had long dark hair) Glasses in the Coffee/Tea/drinks cabinet were unwashed and clearly had previous drink residue inside.
