The Spotlight on Big Horn Lodge

Relaxed Lodge Comfort Near the Heart of Grand Lake

Big Horn Lodge offers a classic mountain-lodge feel just off Highway 34 in Grand Lake, Colorado. With free Wi-Fi, rustic charm, and cozy rooms featuring microwaves, fridges, and coffee makers, it’s a great home base for music lovers. Located just minutes from scenic venues and outdoor attractions, it makes concert weekends both comfortable and convenient.

Why Concert-goers love it

Big Horn Lodge is just a short drive from local music venues and the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park—perfect for catching a show and exploring during the day. Guests love the laid-back, quiet vibe after a loud night out, and the in-room amenities make late night snacks easy. While check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 10:00 AM, the hotel’s straightforward layout and easy access make arrival and departure simple, even with a packed concert schedule.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for an affordable, convenient stay
  • Solo travelers on a music pilgrimage
  • Couples making a romantic weekend of it
  • Fans wanting a place to decompress post-show in peace
  • Budget-conscious concert-goers who value location and comfort

Food and Drink Options

While Big Horn Lodge doesn’t offer on-site dining, each room includes a microwave and fridge, which makes reheating leftovers from nearby eateries a breeze. Grand Avenue is a short walk away, with local restaurants and cafés serving everything from hearty breakfasts to late-night bites—ideal after a night out.

Nightlife Options

Though the lodge itself is quiet, you’ll find a handful of local bars and pubs nearby in Grand Lake where you can enjoy a drink or two before or after a show. It’s not a party hotel, but if you’re into a low-key vibe, you’ll feel right at home.

What People Say

Guest reviews consistently highlight the cleanliness of the rooms, the friendly staff, and the great location close to Grand Lake and the national park. Many travelers appreciate the easy parking and the ability to walk to shops, dining, and lakeside activities.

Areas for Improvement

The lodge has a more traditional feel, and while rooms are comfortable, they’re a bit dated. There’s no air conditioning, so summer stays can be warm—though ceiling fans do help. Also, a 10:00 AM check-out might feel early after a long concert night.

The Bottom Line

If you're after a quiet, affordable, and well-located place to crash after a concert, Big Horn Lodge offers a solid stay with all the essentials.

Grand Lake vacation

Liked: The location was perfect we could easily walk to eat, shop, and see the beach. Then it was a short drive to hike and see some beautiful sites.
Disliked: The Big Horn Lodge was good but the first restaurant we went to had a wait for host to seat you sign but no one ever came over and it looked like there was plenty of people working and dining ,One Love Rum, but we left and went to Rockies but are food wasn't good. I ordered the Caesar salad with grilled chicken the salad was limp and the chicken was cold my wife ordered a burger medium and it came out rare. We may have missed out on good food at the first place because every time we passed by they were busy. The small taco shop was good and Stagebrush BBQ also. The Wake had the best latte's.

Mid room, not worth the...

Liked: Close to town and walkable
Disliked: Staff wasnt around much, seemed overwhelmed. First room reeked of febreeze and cleaning material so strong it gave us all a headache. We were told wed be on the second story and ended up shoved in a dark corner by the office on the first floor with a dog which was not ideal. Finally they moved us and the second room was better. Not worth the price though. Not sure what smell they were trying hard to cover up but it was bad.

Loved our Fourth of July...

Liked: The front dest clerk and staff were EXCELLENT!!! We had an issue with our Kurig coffee maker and he went all out to get us a new one. The location was PERFECT. Small town, lots of visitors but our location was quiet and peaceful! Very comfortable beds.
Disliked: The last day the shower did not work. Parking was “tight” but all visitors worked it out.
