The Spotlight on Bestwood Lodge Hotel

Victorian Elegance Meets Concert Convenience

Modern gigs meet royal history at the Bestwood Lodge Hotel, a grand Victorian property nestled in 700 acres of peaceful parkland. Once a royal hunting lodge for King Charles II, this unique hotel blends historic charm with easy access to Nottingham’s music venues—just a 15-minute drive into the city center. With free parking, Wi-Fi, and two stylish bars, it’s a relaxing retreat for concert-goers who want a dose of character with their convenience.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel offers a welcome escape from the buzz, yet you’re still close to the action. Central Nottingham’s top venues and nightlife are just a short taxi or rideshare away, and the hotel’s peaceful setting offers a quiet place to unwind after a late-night show. With flexible check-in from 14:00 and check-out at 11:00, there’s time to rest and recover.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to combine music and countryside charm
  • Solo travelers wanting a unique and memorable stay
  • Couples planning a music-filled romantic weekend
  • Fans who need a quiet, comfortable base post-concert
  • Budget-conscious music fans thanks to free parking and Wi-Fi

Food and Drink Options

The on-site restaurant serves up dishes with a continental twist, perfect for pre-show fuel or a post-gig bite. The Foyer Bar offers cozy fireside drinks with traditional oak paneling, while the Garden Bar and terrace is ideal for sunny afternoons. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the friendly staff are happy to help you with late bites or directions to nearby eateries.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, the bars provide a relaxed vibe with a local feel. You're just a short drive or cab ride from Nottingham’s best clubs, pubs, and live music venues, making it easy to dive into the nightlife scene and return to tranquility.

What People Say

Guests rave about the hotel’s historic charm, peaceful location, and friendly staff. Reviewers often mention the beautiful parkland surroundings and appreciate the free parking and Wi-Fi. The characterful rooms and on-site bars also get plenty of love.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the décor leans more traditional than modern, so if you’re expecting sleek minimalism, this may not be your style. A few reviews mention that the building can feel a little creaky—charming to some, quirky to others.

The Bottom Line

If you’re after peace and personality with easy access to Nottingham's music scene, Bestwood Lodge Hotel hits the right note.

Historical building great location amazing...

Liked: Declan on reception was fantastic I had emailed to make sure we could check in early as we had a wedding and they made sure all was ready for us. Breakfast was lovely too although I’d say they could give more fruits as a option
Disliked: Room is dated as expected but the bedside lights don’t work off !

Very nice stay to break...

Liked: Booked the hotel as it has outside space to wander so not limited to hotel building. Weather was good so sat with a drink on very nice terrace with view of trees.
Disliked: Difficult to find the hotel. Although we were very close at one time we still couldn't find hotel entrance only the country park. This could be remedied by adding a few directions to the website or on an email. The hotel is historically interesting and can see why it is probably popular for weddings etc. however it is need of some repairs and decorating. Needs investment to make it really good.

Beautiful grounds, bit tired and...

Liked: Lovely old building, the grounds were very peaceful. Staff were very friendly, it was super hot and there was a fan in the room which was a nice touch.
Disliked: It felt a bit tired and creaky, but to be expected of a very old historical building - the room did not look like the picture I booked but as it was onlyFor one night didn’t see the point of moaning.

A fabulous building and location,...

Liked: It is an amazing building in a lovely location. Walks on the doorstep. Excellent staff and room cleanliness was good. Breakfast selection was good.
Disliked: Old furniture and damaged furniture. No lift (with an elderly relative). Not much attention at breakfast - cold coffee, no cups. Beautiful views of the gardens but through dirty windows.

Accommodating, relaxed, welcoming

Liked: Gorgeously aged steeped with local history in stunning grounds
Disliked: Not much, for anyway reading this review, to put it frankly, it’s an old building so don’t complain about the stairs up to rooms!

Great staff but overpriced shabby...

Liked: Breakfast and evening meal were delicious and good value, and the staff are lovely
Disliked: This is an old building but does require attention and is quite frankly shabby, which is a shame as it could be magnificent. I stay here as it's close to visiting family. But as a single traveller it's over priced and doesn't offer value for money.
