Disliked: The carpets and general smell was awful sorry to say..It would put me off going back. No electric socket near the bed for charging mobile phone.

Convenient & comfortable

Liked: We loved the location, close to stores, restaurants and other interesting sights. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.
Disliked: It would be nice if the rooms had a refrigerator to keep our soft drinks cold.

Liked: The room was nice, clean and had large storage units for clothes and accessories etc, we only stayed one night but if you needed it for a few days you'd have plenty of room. We were at the back of the hotel facing the car park so it was very quiet and the bed I found super comfy.
Disliked: The only real downside was that there was no hot water from the shower. The hot water tap on the bath got super hot quickly, but no matter how long it was run for or in what position it was facing left or right etc, the shower never got hot. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and would definitely use again if we were in the area.

A disastrous and disappointing stay...

Liked: The beds were comfortable and impeccably clean linen. But that was all to like
Disliked: The room was very disappointing. We were in a dated annex off the car park and not in what used to be a beautiful old and charming house. It was very tired and in need of refurbishment. The furniture was very dated. One of the curtains was hanging off the hooks. The radiator was rusty and looked as though it had previously leaked and the area underneath not cleaned properly. Very poor offerings of no biscuits to go with minimal tea and coffee. Two cups of differing sizes, no saucers, no spoons to stir - with no reply from reception in morning, had to stir my coffee with my pen! No glasses for water or drinks. In bathroom only one set of towels for two guests. One small bar of soap, no shampoo or body wash or anything else. The taps on sink both moved when we were turning them on. No glasses for water for swilling mouth on cleaning teeth. No reply by phone to reception several times. On going physically to reception the lady had been dealing with breakfast. She did apologise and was very nice and courteous. However I do feel that if I hadn’t paid The £146.00 up front, I would have demanded a substantial discount as the stay in the Rose and Crown just was NOT worth that amount of money. Central but weary stay!

Liked: Ability to be able to check in late after an event hassle free! Friendly accommodating staff and a really central location. One of the single rooms booked had a nice street view in the sunshine!
Disliked: Hotel is obviously historic so has some charm remaining, but is pretty tired. Floors were pretty creaky throughout the night and mattresses very soft. Whilst the sheets and towel felt fresh, the rooms could do with a good clean. As a double room we only had one cup and one towel! Easily rectifiable I am sure, if you arrive earlier, but we would expect slightly more for the money spent.
