Very Good - 4 out of 5

Jayne S, Fareham, visiting Salisbury City Hall Sat, 4 January 2014

This was part of my husband's Christmas gift. It was spoiled by the fact that we could not order any food as there was an electrical problem in the kitchen. He has a chronic back problem and we wanted room service. The staff however were very helpful and friendly.

Liked: Beautiful hotel.
Disliked: No parking; no restaurant service.

Disappointing - 2 out of 5

Judith Sun, 4 June 2023

Disappointing and expensive

Liked: Great location and useful to have on site parking (additional cost).
Disliked: Problem with room, had to switch on second night - that room was better. Breakfast was very poor. With only 2 exceptions staff were quite sullen and not overly helpful. Very expensive for fairly basic facilities.

Very disappointing. Expected better

Liked: The waiting staff for breakfast and at the bar were very friendly and helpful. Our room was a nice size, and was generally clean - as was the hotel.
Disliked: Contacted the hotel before our stay to ask if there was access to fridge or microwave and we were told flat out no. Our room was up 2 flights of windy stairs (no lift) and we had a small baby in a pram with all her stuff as well as our suitcases. The hotel were aware we had a baby upon booking - so I was annoyed to find we were in such an inaccessible part of the hotel. Upon checking in we weren't warned about this, nor offered any help. There only seemed to be one baby changing area - which was in a single toilet cubicle (so was tricky if in use, or we were at other side of hotel). The breakfast was very limited and simple. e.g. although there was some fruit there was only 1 choice, I had to pay for sparkling water, It was "no frills" I think. The kitchen was closed when we arrived, due to a function - which I think is appalling - to not have been warned in advance it was closed, and it was closed for residents. Due to accessibility issues (as mentioned before), it meant there was no "popping" into town for food easily, and getting up and down stairs with baby for breakfast was dangerous and a trial. It was so hot in our room, the radiators seemed to be set/stuck to on and no sign of the fan that was available, but opening the windows was a nightmare due to city centre location - loud club music and screaming party-goers outside until 4.30am.

Liked: Lovely reception staff. Great character Hotel, very plesant, rooms through the property. We will visit again.
Disliked: Not having the smoke alarm go off, but no ones fault only another customer putting the hairdryer to close to the fire alarm. Staff were fantastic and handled the situation very quickly.
