Best Western Plus Winnipeg Airport Hotel

Heading back to Winnipeg again...

Liked: Location
Disliked: Best western was my go to hotel. But this one was over crowded with drunks all day and night. Fights broke out in front of the hotel. Cops, paramedics were there. I have never seen a hotel with security guards on every level at 3am. That’s when we check out and went to the airport for a 5am flight.

All in all it was...

Liked: Overall the Hotel was very good.
Disliked: I was very unsatisfied that the fire/smoke alarm went off twice at 4AM. No explanation what so ever. I asked Security Guard and she/he had no idea. This went on for a good 1/2hour. Then someone’s car alarm went off for 10 minutes. Also the Natives that were staying there because of Forest Fires they were drunk and disorderly. One fell over just in front of me getting off the elevator. They were noisy in the hallways. Banging on each other’s door. This is my second time to stay at this Hotel, so I don’t think there will be a third time.

Liked: Clean and friendly staff
Disliked: Other guests were very loud and fighting with each other. So afraid to go out of the room because first nations are all over the lobby yelling

Liked: They had us on the 6th floor, down a hallway with lesser rooms. Location was good. Room was relatively clean.
Disliked: Location was nice but the hotel is run down. We stayed at this hotel (under different management) 20 years ago after our wedding and wanted to stay for our anniversary (Big mistake). When we got there, there was security and police everywhere. The hotel was full of evacuees. It was loud, dirty and just chaos everywhere. What we wanted was a nice relaxing vacation and what we got was the exact opposite. There were unsuperized children running around and playing in the elevators. A sticky substance all over the elevator floors. The front entry way and check in area where full of people just hanging out making it hard to get to the check in counter. The bed and pillows need to be updated as they were terrible, leading to a poor sleep. And for the price we paid to stay there I feel ripped off. We observed people doing drugs at the fountain outfront and later learned there was a drug bust at the hotel.

Disappointing

Liked: Location close to airport with shuttle The beds were very comfortable.
Disliked: Very sketchy hotel. When I arrived (6pm) there were many people outside drinking and there were at least 2 flights. Numerous security people in and around the hotel as well as several police officers making arrests. Honestly didn't feel safe for my 2 son's
