The Best Western Plus University Park Inn and Suites was the perfect location for our stay in Ames, IA. It was only 1.5 miles from the venue, Stephens Auditorium, and was also close to nearby restaurants and the highway. The hotel felt cozy and comfortable. We had a King Suite room and it was spacious and comfortable. Staff was friendly and courteous. We'll definitely return to this hotel again.

Superb

Overrated but good enough to...

Liked: Easy to get to. The best part was the gas station next door had a really nice variety of beers that are local to the area that I have never tried before.
Disliked: Pool was closed for renovation. The AC reeked like mold so i had to turn it down as low as possible and that made the smell bearable but then i was super cold. For really high reviews and the price, i didn’t think it was that great. I should of rolled the dice on a room under $100 and would of probably had the same outcome.

Liked: Stayed for Iowa State orientation. Close to campus and Ames. Breakfast is good, hotel is clean and comfortable.

Liked: Nice entrance and breakfast room.
Disliked: The smoke alarm in our room woke us from a deep sleep at 12:30 AM. We called a staff member who changed a battery. Then again at 6:00 AM it went off again. We had planned to get a good night’s sleep after our travel day and felt exhausted when we left. After we reported what had happened when checking out, they offered a $25 discount or some BW points. We didn’t think this was at all adequate.

Disliked: Front desk clerk was not very friendly or helpful. She couldn't find the reservation by name and when I said I'll go to my car to get my phone and email, she said "It won't help! I can't find you so it won't make a difference." I went to get my phone from the car. She told me I'm doing laundry so you'll have to ring the bell. When I came back in 30 seconds later, rand the bell and showed her the confirmation she said "You'll have to read me the number." I read it and it came up with my last name as my first name. Simple error on someone's part, but she as much as told me too bad for you prior to finding the error. Not a great first impression of a business.
