Best Western Plus Montreal Downtown-Hotel Europa

We got overcharged on our rooms, and on the second night our cards didn't work. When we got new cards they set it up as a new reservation so we got an extra charge on the credit card.

Liked: It was 5 minutes away from the venue (New City Gas).
Disliked: Overcharged on our rooms.

Hotel was great; location was great; staff was great.

Liked: The rep on the phone worked very hard to accommodate my needs.
Disliked: I was told the website discount was as good as the military discount. This was not true.

I enjoyed the location a lot; when I come back I will book a room with you again.

Liked: Service at reception was very good; room was very clean and had everything a traveller might require.
Disliked: Maybe change the pillows a little - they are too soft; room seemed smaller compared to Best Western in Niagara Falls.

Disliked: I was quite disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The room smelled strongly of smoke upon arrival, which was unpleasant and lingered despite airing out the space. The room itself was very dark, with no natural light—an industrial installation was positioned directly outside the window, completely blocking any view or daylight.Another surprising detail: only disposable plastic cups were provided in the room. When I asked at the reception for a proper mug or glass cup, I was told this wasn’t a request they could accommodate. For a hotel in this price range, I expected better attention to comfort and basic amenities.Unfortunately, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Disliked: Elevators didn’t work, but no sign to let guests know. Meant standing and waiting for no reason. Stairwell was filthy and smelled terrible. Rooms were basic and a bit tired, but reasonably clean.
