Very Good - 4.0 out of 5

Friendly staff, spotless accommodations, convenient base for day trips around WI and MN.

Liked: The motel was spacious and absolutely spotless. The restaurant attached is very good. The room was large and well-appointed, with a very comfortable mattress. The bathroom was also spacious, with great hot water for sink and shower. The coffee machine at breakfast was surprisingly good. The location was ideal for us to explore La Crosse and to attend the OwlFest in Houston, MN. Parking was plentiful and close by.
Disliked: The breakfast did not have many gluten-free options. The only yoghurt available was non-fat (full of sugar). The scrambled eggs were good, but there was no tabasco sauce or even ketchup or cheese to modify them. Some steal-cut oatmeal would have been appreciated, but they only had sugary pastries. It would be really nice if they had stevia as a sugar-substitute. They only had saccharine and aspartame options, both of which taste bad and have numerous studies of their problems for a person's health. The hotel couldn't help this, but there were lots of children running around in the halls at night, shouting. Part of this was due to basketball playoffs. So, I'd say that the motel is great for families, but a bit less great for couples. A minor point, but the pillows were lumpy and difficult to keep beneath one's neck while sleeping.

It was ok.

Liked: The location was very good. However I asked for 2 queens and a sofa bed. We got a room with 2 queens. The hotel claimed that since we booked the room thru you they couldn’t change the room because Booking.com sent our room request to them as just 3 queen beds. Refund some money??
Disliked: The property is fine but disappointed that we didn’t get the room I asked for!
