Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel’s location near Oakham makes it a smart choice for those attending gigs in the area, especially if you prefer a peaceful place to recharge after a high-energy night. Its proximity to the A1 and M1 means late-night travel back from nearby venues is straightforward. While there's no city noise here, you’ll find the calm atmosphere perfect for next-day recovery. For more variety, Oakham’s pubs and eateries are just a short drive away.

Nightlife Options

This isn’t a party hotel, but it offers a cozy bar where you can grab a drink and reflect on your concert experience. The location is praised for being convenient yet quiet, and the grounds are perfect for a morning stroll. Travelers also appreciate the ample parking and easy road access.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the décor feels a bit dated in places, and Wi-Fi can be spotty depending on the room. But for most, the peaceful setting and helpful staff more than make up for these minor issues.

Excellent location

Liked: All as expected for a 3 star hotel. Exceptionally good location with lake views, plus access to the lakeside path. Views of Normanton Church. Beautiful.
Disliked: Bathrooms a little in need of refurbishment, but adequate. Good range of toiletries.

Welcoming hotel in a lovely...

Liked: The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond when my elderly mother had a fall. They were also quick to deal with some maintenance issues with our original room and move us to a new room. Location is fantastic (and very handy for the parkrun), and we enjoyed both sitting on the garden terrace and eating in the conservatory with views of the lake. We had dinner in the hotel on all three nights and the food was excellent. We would stay here again.
Disliked: Some of the breakfast items ran out.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Disappointing

Liked: Nice location, hotel could do with a refurbishment
Disliked: We booked a dog friendly room, paid extra. The room was on the small side with a view of a bush right outside the window. The room was in need of updating, shower wasn’t thermostat controlled and it wouldn’t stay in the fixing very well. We were told that dogs weren’t allowed in lake view rooms. We ate in the bar area, food was good although again there is no option to have a lake view whilst having a meal, if you have a dog with you. The hotel is in a lovely setting right on Rutland Water and might be ok for those without dogs. We wouldn’t stay here again.

Excellent place to stay and...

Liked: Beautiful place to stay. Just off a main route but down a quiet lane. Good parking. Beautiful room, large, quality furniture and linen. We had a courtyard room so could park right outside the room which was perfect for us. Lovely gardens to walk around and a gate down to the lake area with more lively walks. Very nice breakfast
Disliked: Nothing

Charming hotel with lovely staff...

Liked: The staff were lovely, the view over the lake was gorgeous and breakfast was wonderful in a beautiful airy light room. I needed to add a friend whio is a student, and the receptionist very kindly changed us to a family room for the same fee. We loved sitting out in the garden among the stunning trees. Our room was large and the bathroom also spacious, with a fast running large bath.
Disliked: The plug was unserviceable in our bath (allendale room) - I had to deploy a hair slide to dig it out. There was quite a strong fragrance, perhaps on the carpets?

Practical for what we needed....

Liked: location amazing but we went in mind to bring our dog but didn't realise when we booked only certain rooms for dogs so in the end unable to bring her.....shame as was looking forward to the walking!
Disliked: Room was tiny (room 2) I didn't read the small print (my fault) with the eaves and was particularly a hot day - not hotels fault but SO hot. A lovely guy on pm shift found us a fan - thank heavens!
