Beautiful grounds, lovely spa, comfortable...

Liked: Given we had a dog, I sent a quick message on the booking form to ask if that was OK. The staff gave us a cute studio no240 which had parking directly outside and access to grounds for dog. Inside was perfectly comfortable....Nice soft sofa, great bed, bathroom with bath. It helped because we could wash dog down and he had space to move around. We put the dog blanket on the bed and then let him relax while we went to the hotel pool and spa...thatbwas an unexpected bonus which we appreciated. Also, we loved the medieval castle ruin which was next to the hotel. We really could have happily stayed longer and just chilled out at the hotel and grounds. We went for a drink in the maon building bar late evening. Very nice.
Disliked: There was no kitchen service that night which did not affect us bevmcause we had eaten but for future guests it's a good idea to ask if food is available before arriving.

Disliked: As I approached the entrance, an unpleasant odor reminiscent of a wet dog assaulted my senses, a foreboding sign of what lay ahead. Stepping into the room, I was relieved that the musty scent hadn't followed me, but my relief was short-lived. The room appeared tired and in desperate need of rejuvenation. Dust clung stubbornly to the skirting boards, and in corners where no one was likely to look—behind the television, beside the bedside table, and around the radiators—layers of grime had taken hold, as if it had been forgotten by time.The bed itself was an ordeal, with a mattress that felt more like a slab of concrete than a restful surface. Despite my exhaustion, sleep eluded me, and I even attempted to cancel my second night's stay, only to discover the policy mandated cancellations be made by 4 PM the day prior. The bathroom was a disheartening sight, with a floor that felt uncomfortably sticky beneath my feet and grout marred by unsightly stains and residue. In the corners, black mold thrived around the tub, creating an unsettling environment that made washing up feel more like a chore than a moment of self-care. When I requested fresh towels, one bore ominous stains that dissuaded me from using any of them at all, leaving me feeling more unclean than refreshed.

Disliked: The hotel was very old and dated, our room smelt, possibly as we were above the kitchen. A desperate need to upgrade the place would benefit.
