Austere inside and out.

Liked: Facility was very clean and all fixtures and equipment (elevator) all working well.HVAC worked well.Bed was comfortable. Pillows a bit hard though.
Disliked: When we first entered our room on a very warm day, HVAC was shut down and the room very very warm. It took well over an hour to get it cooled down so we could sweating.Room layout very dated with bath layout inadequate for a couple to use with any comfort.Lighting at vanity, which was in the room, was too intense with no dimming control. Light on and anyone in bed received all the light as well.When we asked for towels to go to the pool, we did get them but they had to mark it down. Don't know if it's the stall or the customers they were afraid would steal a towel. We stayed two nights and initially were given just 2 towels for the second night. Inadequate for warm weather and a swimming I no pool.Ambiance of the morning breakfast area lacking in any sense of hospitality or attempt for comfort. Food choices minimal compared to other motels but those available okIce and beverage machine on 1st floor only.Don't get me started re: the tv. Crazy to try to figure it out and then not much when you do.Morning manager questionable at best as to his overall responses toward a friendly helpful attitude.There was no attempt whatsoever to make the site pleasant. Stuck between two parking lots with semi trucks. Felt a bit like an old Motel 6.Overall we felt as though it was there for the management and not the "guests".

Convenient and clean.

Liked: I needed a last-minute place to stay and this was great. I spent the next day at Bishop Hill, not far down the road (and worth some poking around for people who like history and/or crafts).
Disliked: If I remember correctly, there wasn't a freezer compartment in the room fridge. I depend on those to re-freeze the cooler packs in my food storage in the car. But there was a convenient ice machine (for many reasons, I prefer the cooler packs, but ice works).
