Value for money in NOLA

Liked: Ok so its not the Ritz, but this hotel is solid value for money in an expensive city. Free parking, free wifi, breakfast included (eggs, bacon, waffles, cereal, toast, yogurt etc) and a nightly happy hour with complimentary beer and nibbles! The staff were great, especially Ms Debra who looked after us well! And Ms Mamie making our breakfast every morning. Good coffee available in the lobby 24/7. Room was a good size for us ( 2 adults and 1 child) beds comfortable. AC worked ok. Black out curtains. Mini fridge was all iced up and toilet seat falling off but the manager got it sorted pronto. Appreciated the in room microwave and coffee maker. 20 min drive to garden district/ French quarter. Great fried chicken at food mart next door! Piggly Wiggly 5 min drive.
Disliked: It was a bit noisy at times, people in room upstairs stomping around at all hours. 2 inch gap under our room door ensured you could hear everything in the corridor. Not a very picturesque location, a bit out of the way from the main tourist areas, a car is essential to get around to all the sights. But directly on the expressway which leads to bridge to downtown. Pool is a bit of a joke, very tiny and in the middle of the parking lot ( behind a fence) Carpet in room a bit grimy. Wear flip flops! Bathroom small, no where in shower to put your soap or toiletries and shower floor quite slippery when wet. Ice maker broke down and guest laundry present but out of order. Another rubbish bin in room would be good. But pros outweigh cons by a long way,, would stay again for sure!
