Unhelpful
Liked: Close to airport
Disliked: Booked the wrong night (my fault) but staff weren't willing to help adjust even when they said they had a room for the night we wanted and I offered to pay any extra for it. They just wanted us to book an extra night. Place is run down with no investment in upkeep.Booked for the free breakfast but once there discovered free breakfast was only for two out of the four in our party. It turns out breakfast was pretty basic anyway - DIY toast, cereal or yoghurt. Coffee is extra.

It did the job of...
Liked: The staff were friendly and accommodating and took smart steps to help protect my information from the nosey drunk guy invading everyone's space in the small reception area. The bed was reasonably comfortable for the one night. It is close to the airport (10 mins give or take) which was handy as we had family flying out very early the next morning and close to some cafes (again within a 10 min. drive). It is located right opposite Doomben Station and Race Course so if you are there for the horse racing, its a decent choice. Checking out was simple and pleasant. The motel was also very quiet.
Disliked: Had an unpleasant encounter with a drunk and an angry boomer when checking in - not the motel's fault though English as a second language probably contributed to the Boomer's failure to understand why room rates fluctuate weekly and monthly. Some of the parking bays were not marked and there were a couple of 4WD's that took up too much room so there were not enough parking spaces. The family rooms all appeared to be on the upper level which meant dragging our bags up the stairs and it was difficult for my wife who has a vision and mobility impairment so a description that the room was upstairs would have been very handy to know. The shower was long but narrow so you basically had to stand in it sideways to wash yourself. The pillows were like a rock and quite uncomfortable. The ironing board cupboard appears to have been an afterthought so trying to iron even a pair of jeans was really difficult as the board overlapped the suitcase rack and desk.
