Relaxing and charming, very secluded...
Liked: The location was secluded and beautiful. Very relaxing and charming. The staff was very friendly and accommodating (we arrived after the restaurant closed, but the bar let us come in for a quick drink since there is nothing else around anywhere). The spa was worth the money; wonderful staff and treatments, and you are allowed to use the pool area after your spa visit (which we needed, as we had to check out of our room). The restaurant staff was very friendly; they stayed after their shift and chatted with us a bit about the area, which was wonderful, and one of the reasons we travel to meet local folks).
Disliked: For $300/night, we expected them to be a bit better maintained; the beds were fantastic, but there was peeling paint on the walls, and the balcony had large sections of the top layer of concrete missing. Also, there is literally nothing around the property, so if you miss getting there before 8, you better bring your own food and drinks, or you have to drive 10 minutes into Goderich, which also closes early; only one restaurant in the whole town was still open at 9; even the Walmart was closed!

Otherwise , the breakfast was...
Liked: Breakfast was the best thing .
Disliked: We had a room with a spa tub.... It was not working very well . It sounded like the motor was winding and had a hard time running. Didn't get to use it for more than a minute and that was the reason for the room we picked. Disappointing :(

An absolutely gorgeous weekend in...
Liked: Was very much looking forward to this trip. Although the surrounding area of the inn is stunning the inn itself was very mediocre. The little extras in the room that you would expect were not there. Extras such as nice soap and coffee. For the amount of money we paid to stay here we were disappointed. The room had all the charm of a 3 star hotel. Not something you would expect at this price point. I would not stay here again. I have to say that the woman who greeted us upon arrival was very pleasant and helpful.
Disliked: Room was very plain and charmless. The bed had seen better days and even things like the bedding and towels were really bargain basement quality. The inn relies on its setting which is absolutely gorgeous, otherwise you would be better off to stay in a chain hotel in town and then drive out to the area to enjoy the scenery.

Liked: When my wife and I first arrived at the Inn, as we drove into the place, leaves were falling from the trees and it looked like a scene from a movie. The room we booked had a great amount of space, good selection of TV, the staff was good for accommodation in regards to not being able to enter our room, the location is absolutely amazing, definitely planning on coming back when covid is clear and enjoying our stay to the fullest.
Disliked: Not being able to use the amenities to enjoy the full stay, due to covid, but that has nothing to do with the stay here. It would have been nice to have a microwave in the room to heat things up but that wasn't an overly big deal.

What a disappointment!
Liked: The setting is lovely especially at this time of year with all the trees in full color. The gardens are also quite nice and the patio inviting.
Disliked: I stayed at the Benmiller some years ago and lived everything about it This time it was a great disappointment, shabby, stripped of all interior charm, neglected and really quite depressing The lovely stone exterior has been clad with what I guess is stucco which has peeled away in spots. The bar is totally closed and , despite it being a very pleasant late afternoon we were unable to have a drink on the patio. The hallways and particularly the staircase desperately need new carpet and a serious cleaning. The dining room was just sad. Dinner was good but seriously expensive. We were there to celebrate my friend's birthday so I guess that was what made it even sadder.
