Ben View Phoenix Hotel

Fail. Caution.

Liked: Having booked the stay through Booking.com we were unable to access the property on arrival at 7pm. The door was locked and the staff were not able to accommodate guests. The community were really helpful finding a very last minute alternative at Strontian Hotel, who couldn't have been better!
Disliked: Arriving at 7pm after a long day and not being able to access the accomodation. Front door locked, ligths off, staff unable to open door.

Lovely holiday

Liked: Excellent food, wonderful location

Okay for a short stay

Liked: Spacious room. Comfy beds. Clean. Quiet location. Generous breakfast. Supportive owner.
Disliked: Very basic bathroom. Dripping toilet drain. Scratched basin with old taps. Wallpaper comes down from ceiling. Bed side lights didn't work. Dining room wasn't clean. Food at breakfast not always fresh.

A place that will leave...

Liked: Graham’s friendliness and hospitality were the real touch of the place ! Meals are home made , breakfast is outstanding.Sauna is a great idea after a day walking outside.The building is old but nevertheless warm and confortable.

Welcoming and good value.

Liked: Exceptionally helpful and welcoming host. Not having TVs in the rooms suits me fine (there is a TV lounge). While the place is slightly dated it is great value, considerably cheaper than other local alternatives. Blissfully quiet for sleeping.Good breakfast and very modest prices on dinner menu.
Disliked: Shower wasn't very powerful, and no toiletries were provided. Currently not serving alcohol, due to the prohibitive cost of licence for a small premises. I think I expected a 'full bar' because of the word hotel, but I wouldn't have expected one if the word was 'accomodation' or 'guest house'.

Superb

Liked: Loved the stay ,very peaceful,host Graham couldn't do enough for you,breakfasts very well prepared and presented Nothing too much trouble for him.First time in Strontian,village very friendly and clean.Fantastic 4 day break , will definitely be back.

Liked: The hotel was closed. It has been closed for some time, but booking.com is still letting people to book it. We had to find an alternate accommodation at a much higher price on that night. Extremely unhappy!
