Bellingham Lodge

My girl friend flooded the bathroom. We cleaned it up with the night staff and she was willing to pay any damages the next morning. They didn't tell me there would be an extra charge when we checked out or when we were cleaning up. It just showed up 5 days later on my card. Super unimpressed.

Liked: Free wifi.
Disliked: Charging me an extra $100 USD.

The staff was nice and the room was clean. Price was right. But we did not sleep at all! - the floor creaked with every step above us! It was loud enough to wake me up whenever the person above us went to the bathroom, which seemed to be once an hour. Horrible! I have never experienced that anywhere else before. Not much the hotel can do if it's a flaw in the building. Maybe try not to book people in upper floors when possible? Definitely request a second floor room.

Liked: I came in late, to stay overnight.. The whole experience was lovely. First, the guy checked me in. No fuss.. No hassle., at 230a. The room was clean and quiet. Also, had all the amenities I would've liked. Had I been staying longer. For example, coffee, microwave, and fridge; in the room. And, I was able to take a bath. Not always the case in hotels (water pressure, or the shape of the tub, or it just doesn't get hot enough. Then, the continental breakfast included made to order waffles! And, it was under $100 for the night.
Disliked: Not a thing.

Overall, we were glad to...

Liked: Pros: Rooms were clean, beds were comfy, the heating and cooling were quite responsive, the lodge was close to WWU as we desired, and the staff were friendly.
Disliked: Cons: The hanging light in one room (attached to the switch by the door) didn't work, one of the bulbs in the other bathroom was out, the room keys didn't work at the outside door closest to our room and had to be rekeyed to our rooms as well, would have been nice to have some fruit for breakfast. The building overall is obviously older and could use a makeover: carpets are stained in the hallways, floors are squeaky, and it smelled a bit musty.

Disliked: No elevator. I'm Stage 4 pancreatic cancer and hauling stuff up and down stairs was tough.
