Super close to Market Street dining and shopping. Clean; lobby is beautiful and boutique-like; parking garage is attached. Very pleasant and, for San Francisco, priced fairly. It was what I expected from a Holiday Inn Resort.
Disliked: No mini fridge; bed was way too firm for me; a bit noisy, but they give earplugs.

This is a great hotel to stay at if you are going to see a concert at the Civic Center. Clean; cheery, helpful, friendly staff; good price; well decorated room; comfy bed and pillows. Convenient location.
Liked: Clean; great, friendly staff.
Disliked: Restaurant - mediocre, but friendly waitstaff.

I would definitely go back.
Liked: Two vouchers for free drinks at the bar. Nice.
Disliked: The heater would switch to cool whenever it reached the temp set by the thermostat.

The hotel was clean and...
Liked: I didn't eat breakfast at the hotel.
Disliked: The location. There were many homeless people doing drugs a few steps from the hotel (towards Market St.) on Friday and Saturday night around 6 pm and 9 pm. It was scary to walk to the nearby restaurants to get dinner. Another thing I didn't like is that the website give you the price with the taxes included but they don't tell you ahead of time that they will charge you for amenities even though you don't use them, Parking was $37.00 per day plus taxes; so the price at the end was almost double than the original price.

Will not stay here again.
Disliked: There were no drawers, anywhere. The window had a ratty pull shade that did not open once it was pulled down. The bed was on the floor so low that it was well below my knees, I'm 5'2"!

Fine quality without overwhelming advertising
Liked: Everything needed without a big brand advertisement reminding you all the time. (The constant promotion of other brands leads one to see how insecure they are!) So this hotel (BEI) had somewhat of a "neutral" or "calm" feel to it. I also liked the use of pump soaps in the shower to prevent waste associated with tiny little plastic bottles.
Disliked: 1) I could hear someone from either above above my room or next door relieving themselves at their toilet from my room pretty clearly. 2) The cleaning crew was very noisy in the morning talking lousy and slamming doors while I was trying to rest. 3) The first time I came to the L level by elevator, there were no signs to indicate that it was the floor with the main desk or how to get there from the elevator. The area immediately outside the elevator is so plain that it looks like a basement or parking level. So I wasted a lot of time trying to find the lobby. 4) It would have been very nice to have some bottled water in the room. I'm always concerned about the quality of tap water. So, either a sign that assures travelers that the tap water is fine to drink or a few bottles of purified water would have been very helpful. 5) The sign to hang on the door was interesting: it stated "Staying" on both sides. I didn't know if that means "do no disturb" or what. I used it assuming it meant "do not disturb" or "do not clean".
